Catchup Again

July 26th

Good day and it's just started!  Got two appointments changed so I can escape for an overnight n day with Janice next week.  Checked with Hands of Hope 204-261-8607 and they accepted the set of ironstone dishes and my two chairs I wanted out of here!  Then met Michelle at A&W (with coupons) for lunch and exchanged some tatting books I had 2 each of for some garden beet leaves - buns in the making tomorrow.  Later on I'm dropping off some Gimli vinetartta for Pat n Randy, getting my car's oil changed and then Ballet in the Park with Angela.  I think Friday has to be a quiet day!!!  Awesome evening with Angela and no bugs!!!!

July 27th

Just letting my friends out West know that I've changed my vacation plans and won't be out to visit you this year!  Sorry!  But 🤗🤩🤗 to be heading to Cuba (click to see where in Cuba) with two girlfriends in February.  This may be Iona's last trip there so definitely a must see for me!   Hopefully it'll work out another year!

OK at least my nails are ready for tomorrow's wedding party!

Yeah I got a pan of slightly overdone beet leaf buns - but hey I'll eat them!!!!  Thank you Michelle for the leaves!  Luv ya!

While waiting for the dough to rise then baking, I drafted up this curved flying geese 24x5 inch wall hanging row for a sort of Round Robin in the making.

July 28th

Here's what I've been working on passing time before getting ready for Kim and Johnny's wedding today.  Practiced using these tweezers I bought years ago and talk about nifty to remove itsy bitsy paper pieces scraps!  It's been awhile since I made fabric postcards - kinda fun to play!

Catchup!

Friday I was out most of the day with Edna and supper with Florence and Wayne before they went to the Jets game.  I bused it back to the condo to watch the Jets and record the Jrs gold medal game.   Well I settled down with a glass of wine and promptly Hamish jumped onto my lap - guess that's his way of saying you're not going out again!!!!

Saturday Catchup!

YOWSERS!!!  Not sure what's going on out there but I'm kicking myself for not going for a walk this morning when it was descent before these winds started blowing!  Oh well I spent the morning doing laundry and surfing for desired tatting patterns for this next week to knot up!

The wind was howling out there.

Would make me a lovely lapel pin.
Pattern seems complicated - will see.

Need small hearts for as payment of membership to a Cdn tatting group!
YES maybe one year I'll get to attend their conference and take classes.

Donating some edging and medallions for a quilt!  It's happening in the USA so I've asked the organizer to choose my 2 blocks and send me a picture so I can choose colours and designs to tat up.  Then I'll send them to her and she'll stitch them on them on for me.  Save postage and time!

For myself - maybe a bracelet?

Yes it was a very quiet day!  Basic housekeeping including combing Hamish then tried to wipe his weepy eye - didn't succeed except for me getting covered in MORE hair.  He took off and thought he was hiding!  LOL!!!!  Basically avoided me till just now when he crawled into my lap.  Guess shutting off the fireplace he wasn't as warm in his chair alone anymore!  Yes a very relaxed day!

LOL!!!  I can see you!!!

Relaxing afternoon!

I LOVE this pose!

You've finally forgiven me?

My Birthday!!!

Well another year older - not sure if wiser - but this one was definitely much happier!!!  Especially after starting the spring off with my van door trying to close on my wrist, which I'm still at physio with trying to lessen the pain from certain movements.  My scheduled MRI has not happened yet and my physiotherapist would like to know what else is the problem.  Maybe soon!

Anyways, after having the Blahs for a few weeks in and out, off and on, I guess it's about time that I've had a wonderful weekend!!!  As I mentioned to friends, I started this birthday's celebrations earlier and will continue through next week too!  WOW!!!

I started celebrating with a flan cake, strawberries and topping with Sylvia & Len Friday evening as I helped them pack up for their return trip home.  Then over to Pat's for more dessert with her too!  Then Saturday was breakie with Sylvia & Len before they left, then lunch with Florence who was in the city for the day - at the Olive Garden with a glass of wine.  Now both sisters were nice and treated me - lovely!

Then Sunday I slept in and what a way to start my day!  Opened my computer and this is what I was greeted with:

My day's weather forecast!

Googles personal BD wishes!  WOW!

Dana sent me this with her BD wishes!  CUTE and appropriate!!!

When I finally got out the door, I picked up some awesome dainties, candles with HAPPY BIRTHDAY on them along with some lace/rose napkins and went to my Lace meeting to have tea with the gals!  I thought quite appropriate!  They thought so too!

After that it was home to the phone ringing off the hook so was an hour late to walk over to Santa Lucia for my favourite pizza and ceasars (doubles on special too - YEAH!!!)  I had ordered the 13 inch Santa Lucia Special so I'd have some pieces to take home and sat back and ENJOYED my evening with my pocket book too.  AND I stayed under my supper budget so that was great too but somehow my take home pieces got dumped even though it was boxed up for me - DUH!  So I had to wait a bit and they made me a 9 inch free!  WOW!!!  So now I have two meals - not the one as planned.  Then I got home and the phone calls just continued - thankfully they stopped 10:30ish so I could go to sleep as I was wiped out with all the fresh air from walking that distance and being overstuffed too!  LOL!  This getting old is for the birds!

I did sleep in slightly Monday (on vacation) and then shopped for a summer pair of slip on sandals and off to pick up my "retired co-workers" for a late lunch out in Selkirk.  It turned out to be a nice leisurely lunch at Barney Gargles (awesome food and service) and a lovely drive along the river with more chatting on the way back!  AWESOME!!!  I just hate it when they can sit around and visit and I have to rush back to work!  Not today and definitely not after next summer!!!

Now I mentioned that the celebrations are continuing this next week - Yeppers they sure are!  LOL!  Tuesday I'm treating myself to my very first 90 min massage I can't wait.  Then Wednesday is lunch with Barb (co-worker) again at a favourite restaurant - The Rib Room and one of these evenings I'm going out for supper with Pat - not sure where to as yet.  And my niece April emailed earlier and mentioned that she and her Mom will be in the city Thursday/Friday and wanted to meet for supper one evening - so another outing.  This better be the end and I better smarten up as my budget will be totally wiped out with this celebrating!!!  LOL!

TGIF!!!!!!!!!

Ohhhh boy, I always knew what those letters meant but today I truly know why that phrase came about!!! Yep I truly had a "B" of a day right from the start, knew I should have stayed in bed. Oh well, thems the breaks I'm sure everyone has in their lives also.

At 10:00 am I had to escape for a quick walk and breather and hopefully relax - LOL! So I zipped over to the bank, got some lottery tickets and stopped for my favourite coffee before getting back to the craziness. It did get straightened out and I did get back to my work but at the end of the day I made a quick trip to the LC and bought myself a bottle of wine, stopped at the store and got a frozen pizza and other goodies then home to relax. I hope at least!

Today at work there was a lobby sale of African items and I could not resist this cute little gourd painted as a sort of Victorian looking Santa holding a wreath and then I saw the pieces of fabric and could not resist this panel (25.5 X 17.5 inches).

I've decided I will layer it, embellish it with beadery and embroidery and then quilt it for an office wall hanging! I think it will be sort of primitive but yet awesome - at least I hope so.

I Shouldn't Have -- But I Did!!!

Yep, I's been bad and blew my horribly waning budget to smithereens this weekend!!! But you know what, even if I rethought this I still would have done this and probably more!!!

Yesterday I picked up a Santa Lucia pizza, now it was a small not the medium I usually order nor a second one for a few $$$s less - just the one and I've half for tonight's supper too, then home to have it with Pepsi instead of brew!!!

Then this morning I slept in cause I was reading late, and off to get my usual short haircut - gosh it felt mucho better than thinking I'd grow it out some. And while there I asked my stylist if she knew of a nails salon as I noticed I was picking on them the other day and that was not good plus the last polish job was just lousy!!! I've got to somehow learn to change polish myself but I hate wasting the 3 hours or so it takes me to do so and then it's not such a great job either! Anyways she told me of the shop just opened in the mall there so off I went and a manicure was $15 and mani-pedi was $35 - hey I'd never had a pedicure and my sister has always told me to GET ONE - I seem to need it badly (barefoot and sandals as soon as it's warm enough and until it's too cold) - at least this year they didn't crack and bleed! So I had my first pedicure in one of those huge leather massage chairs and WOW WOW WOW - I think I'm going again!!! Now she was very gentle and only the sanding part bothered me and once the tickles surfaced and everyone there had a good laugh!!!

Now it's been like THREE MONTHS since I've chewed my nails so I'm trying with the payday manicure treats to hopefully keep them thus!!! So that should have been enough and I should have gone home right!!! WRONG!!!

I then headed towards Fabricland but stopped at A&W for a Teen burger lunch then over to the fabric store for some red thread and $7 later with lace and needle grabbers. Then stopped into Valu Village to check out some men's shirts and found TWO I'd have liked for a peasant's blouse for fall but not at $5.99 and $9.99 each - SHEESH they weren't new that is for sure. So I sauntered over to check the doilies but none that I felt I really needed but over in the crafts section I found this bag of wool "ropes" for $1.99 and I'm sure this is what is used for needle felting projects so I grabbed that - that's for sure. See the blended one on the left was still in it's sealed bag! So my niece, sister and I will definitely have some to try out this technique one of these days - heck the tools are expensive enough so good that I got this bargain.

Then I went next door into Kathryn's Stitching Studio and $16 later for some long Milleners needles for easier making of my Bullion knots and a metal tatting shuttle, good thing I didn't look at the threads or it would have been lots more. Then one last stop into Needlepoint Place and $17 later for a second tatting shuttle (twin to the one I had) and a lilac and forest green #8 DMC Perle Cotton for stitching/tatting projects.

That's enough - off home I headed - my feet were starting to ache and I wanted to meet with Pat F at the Craft Museum up the street from home, so I parked the car, dropped off my purchases and rushed up the street towards St. Mary's just to find that she had left like 10 minutes before!!! Pat Pat Pat!!! Now I can tell you my feet are burning!!!

So back home to grab my lawn chair, book and beading and off to the fountains to relax instead of my overly warm humid apartment. Well that did not last long as there were wedding parties everywhere and one photographer had the audacity to plunk his equipment (getto blaster blaring) just feet away from me and they were arranging for pictures right there - I was so tempted to just keep sitting there then thought it was not worth it and packed up to go to the other side of the grounds. That did not last long either so I just packed up and went home! I was getting hungry anyways!!!

Happy Day

Okay I'm not sure if I'm sick or finally just feeling lots better, but today was a really good day! First off I was greeted with what I think were contented stretches from the dogs asking for tummy rubs - see I slept in so guess they did too!

Then after a leisurely breakfast I ran a few errands, picked up some nice fabrics at a garage sale for $3/m before having lunch at the A&W on Nairn. Now I can tell you that this is the best looking decorating-wise along with pleasant and efficient staff and prompt service from the kitchen too that I've experienced within Winnipeg. The food even tasted better - not as greasy as others - and my stomach did not complain either - that's a good sign!!! So before I left I stopped the one in a different coloured shirt with a name tag on too and gave him my compliments on what looked like a well run restaurant. Made his day too.

Then off I went for a short visit with Pat a fabric artist and thoroughly enjoyed her new needlefelted projects that I had to buy one then and there! She also showed me her two newer wall hangings which is what she needed some larger beads for and which I had brought over a bagful for her to check out and use. Then we discussed the polymer faces after she checked out the block I was embellishing for a Faces DYB RR in one of my groups.

After that I zipped over to Nails 3000 for a long overdue manicure. See after many months of struggling with some mild depression and stress and anxiety from work and home I finally booked an appointment with a hypnotist on June 24th to help reduce the after affects of this and maybe help me deal with some of the problems along with some counselling. WELL I did not make note of the last time I "chewed" my nails (and I'm a BAD one too) but I do remember that twice now I've had to trim and file them so decided I deserved a proper manicure. Well Pat, we were spoiled in Gimli, as sure I only paid $15 but it was 15 minutes tops and they aren't as short as I asked for nor were they buffed so there aren't any sharp or rough edges - guess I'll have to take care of those before I do tempt myself to chew!!! I felt like I was in a whirlwind, she was so fast and moved me out of the chair before I relized I was finished!!! Yes, they do look nice but I felt cheated out of the manicure pampering I've had in the past. Great though if you don't have the time and need a fix-me-upper and change of nail polish!
