Catchup. - Nov 11th-15th

Nov 11th

Well it's been a very long journey for these snowflakes started in July, Star 1 found in Laura Zuiukiewicz's book "Tatting Christmas Decorations", a lovely pattern but very time consuming in three rounds! Size 20 Lizbeth and measured around 4.5 inches, larger than I thought. What with vacation time, health issues and various commitments they were finished yesterday and today starched. Will check tomorrow if this first brush on is good or if they need another coat tomorrow. That's the first batch, onto the next set. Sorry for the board, will have to find something to cover the designs for next time.

Nov 13th

Well today at my quilt gathering I started sewing up my 9.5" unfinished I Spy blocks into a child's quilt top. I've yet to add on the red or blue border and that'll be 12 of the 72 blocks used up. Plans for four shadow boxed like slightly larger tops to come from the remaining ones. Then I was also sewing up potato chip blocks and you know I barely made a dent in that novelty fabrics bin, but it closes better now.

Finally they are complete and kinda overwhelming my tiny display tree. Star 1 found in Laura Bziukiewicz's book "Tatting Christmas Decorations", a lovely pattern but very time consuming in three rounds! Size 20 Lizbeth and measured around 4.5 inches, larger than I thought.

Catchup - July 2nd-7th

July 2nd

I am totally disgusted with this world and all kinds of people and their so called righteous destruction in retalliation of being wronged! You are just furthering the hate into the next generation instead of trying to heal the wrong! Two wrongs do not make it right and actually undoes whatever good many were working towards reconciliation and open to understanding! So very sad!

I was watching the Indigenous parade here in Winnipeg yesterday and was glad it was quiet, yeah right! Manitoba cancelled Canada Day so we can see their parade turn to this!!! With ALL the pictures, there should be LOTS more arrests than only the ONE!!!!

My joy in making my quilt for Indigenous children just lost it's drive! I am totally against vandalism! Yes I know this is wrong, but now you need to understand how these retalliation destructions Canada wide are killing my drive to help out in this call for quilts. I have one quilt I'll finish but the second I was planning as a sisters effort will not be made, nor my desire to make more blocks for another quilt group's call for blocks. Yes so very sad!

CBC News July 1. 2021

This is the last of the mask refresher requests from May, these are for Judy!

PHEW!!!!! Dang it's way too hot in here to do anymore moving of furniture getting ready for window replacement next week! Sewing room is just about ready, bedroom so so, just the living room small sewing table to clean up, I use this to watch my sports in the cooler AC room. I sure hope the new ones help with this hot and cold fluctuations in future! I need to freshen up, a Steigle's Grapefruit Radler and feet up!

July 3rd

Sylvia to the rescue today!!! It's mega hot n humid in my apartment this morning and I was dropping off some fabric for her. So she said to come over and sew in her AC controlled place. So I packed some meat pies, my quilt blocks, the fabrics and stopped at McDs for cold beverages and walked into relief!

We sewed together, had lunch, continued all afternoon till I was finished, then packed it in and ordered pizza for supper, before heading home.

Well I totally didn't think about an inner border on this quilt as it is scrappy like to me. But after seeing it finished I'm thinking it may look better with an inner border of white all around, then the fossil fern orangey border? What do you think?

July 4th

The flag kinda reminds me of an over the couch draped quilt, which to me is appropriate in my message to my American friends! 💞🇨🇦💞🇨🇦💞

I walked up to Poke Mono for their scrumptious rice bowl! Refreshing taste!

This is exactly what I think and feel about orderly official removals or riotous vandalism etc to statues, street names, buildings/churches, etc! So sad that many think history needs to be changed! Wrong in my thinking. What needs changing is people's understanding that present day is not physically responsible for 'historians' mistakes and all of us learning from this and building a harmonious future without violence.

These are my thoughts, whether someone else thinks it's wrong or not, does not matter. You are entitled to your thoughts and opinions too, but please not here. I'm not open to debates etc, thank you.

July 7th

Yahooie!!!! I was told they were starting to replace our windows on the 7th, no kidding two done and third started!

They are small side push up sliding windows so my AC with some minor adjustments should fit even with less work on my part!

A busy day! Quick errands and then back to visit with the dogs and sewing up the on point blocks. Soon will be the borders, then deciding how to quilt both of these nature I Spy quilts before the fall.

Mid-August Catchup!

Aug 15th

Breakfast on the balcony was a bit warm but then the clouds came in and it's just right!  I don't want to leave now for my appointment! ☹

This evening again at the Lyric Theatre at Assiniboine Park listening to McGiver with Carmine LaRosa with Angela again (glad we're here, they are really good).  We thought it was Emm Gryner but that's Sunday evening!  Saw a friend Chris from years back!  WOW!!!!

Aug 16th

OH OH OH, another lovely tatting exchange within Fringe Element Tatters group!  I can't wait for Sept 27th-29th when I get to meet some of these talented ladies at retreat!  Thank you Rita for the exquisitely made bookmark, earrings and the pretty Kleenex case!  WOW!!!!

Aug 17th

WOW!!!  Finally it's my kind of weather and I'm kept company with Fred n Zero on the deck.  Maybe get more tatting done before heading out to Hamish and supper with my sister!  Busy weekend!

OOOHHHHH I'm so excited and finally relieved that I've got the knack of this split ring under over interlaced technique!!!  NOW after like 10 inches I can finally tat on my fingers without the assistance of the TABLE to keep things in order!

Help please?  I've used my Celtic fabric with my own design but running out of fabric for the binding.
I've three options:
1. Left side and bottom is using the design at 45° angle for patches of dark and design?
2. Top and right side is using the outer border medium fabric?
3. Cut a strip of the dark green from between designs and sew to medium to make required width and seam at outer edge and sew so just the dark is the binding?
Please let me know your choice.  Thank you!

Aug 18th

Ohhhh Ohhhh Ohhhh it's heaven on the deck this morning.  Earlier I was at the condo but too chilly on that corner!  😂  Even Zero is staying outside whereas the other day he stayed a bit then went in! Fred wants to play fetch!  OK!!!

Ohhhh they are sooooo tired!!!!  Zero guarding the door incase I try to leave him!!!!  Fred just wants to be beside me!!!!

Another evening concert T the Lyric Theatre at Assiniboine Park with Angela but it sure is "fallish"!  This time listening to Emm Gryner.

Aug 19th

Well one more item off my bucket list.  Today Edna and I took Trolley 596, the free Domo Shuttle to Assiniboine Park foot bridge where we started our walk around before the ride back!  Lovely!

Yummy yummy yummy!  Again we shared a 2 piece pickeral and fries and our beer!  Now sitting in the blue chairs checking out the river action!  Stopping to pick up our cinnamon buns before heading home!

OMGG in all the visits to the condo I've never seen this.  I was opening the folding blinds and heard this roaring sound, looked up and saw this Herc coming towards me!  Kinda got the weebie jeebies flashback to 2011!  I barely had time to open my phone, so no zooming in just 1:1 photo out the window, no time to get to the balcony either.  It looks smaller in the picture but looked lots larger out the window!!!

OK this time I had time to get out on the balcony and video it before it headed out EAST!

Dang it's going over again and this time in the sky too are two parasailers too!  So quickly got a few shots before they landed at Shaw Park for pregame program and ended with another circle of the Herc.  Guess it's flying practice before shipping out???

#1

#2

#2 heading down

#1 slower but finally coming down

#1 heading in also

Herc around again!  Maneuers???

After my baked salmon and asparagus supper I decided to have a Nespresso with milk.  I stirred it and made my first foam design! HMMM!!!

DANG!!!!  It's thundering and lightening and I hate that!  Plus there's nothing but windows in this condo with lighter window coverings than my light blocking curtains!  It better fly over fast!!!!  And no power outages!!!!
