Runs With Scissors - #Proutopia

Heidi had a sticker promotion photo entry going on during her #Proutopia - a Pop Up Art Market along with her Runs With Scissors Studio event and here are various places my sticker traveled with me after leaving the Runs With Scissors Studio.

Relaxing with Rose Anne and Edna on the upper patio at Gaffer's.

At the Leg Bldg river side grounds.
At the beautiful fountain - not sure how close to get!
Hiding from the spray!
Trying not to sink n swim!
To the playground!

And here are Edna's places visited with her sticker.

WAVE Interlake Artist's Tour - 1st Time!!!

When planning on visiting #Proutopia I had no plans in doing the WAVE Interlake Artist's Studio Tour of various mediums.   Well that changed after a brief visit to Gimli and a return trip along Hwy #9.

First we stopped at Dot Harapiak's Art by the Yard Renewal Studio - very very FUNKY garden art.  You had to keep your eyes roaming as items were everywhere even in the bush!  Edna was intrigued by red patten shoes garden planter.  Here I bought a lovely painting in a metal bowl - reminds me of Banff AB.   Also here sharing Dot's studio was Linda Goodman of Rune Stone Design - original jewelry inspired by nature - interesting but I passed.

Next we stopped at Milli Flaig-Hooper's - The Paper Fifrildi who is just amazing with what she does with office paper recycled!!!  She's won numerous awards and I could not resist picking up a fridge magnet and an ornament for my tree.  Edna also picked up an item.

Then we finished off the late afternoon with a stop at CJ Tennant jeweller - yes I was determined to buy something!  And boy would I have loved to pick up a very unusual piece but it was way out of my price range so I passed - maybe next year!  BUT while here she showed me her Mom's quilted jewelry bags made with the sterling  silver black protective fabric and I could not resist the Lotus bag for my Pandora-like jewelry to keep it from tarnishing.   Lovely jeweller though!

Then we finished off the day at Gaffer's just over the Lockport Bridge before heading back to Winnipeg.   NO it was not my idea but Edna's and she'd mentioned that midafternoon too!!!  Lovely idea I totally agree with and we shared bruschetta and scampi with our beverages on the upper patio!

From CJ Tennant Jewelry - can be worn various different ways because of stoppers once looped.

Protective bag empty.

My Pandora-like jewelry lying on top waiting to be slipped into the 4 pockets.

Full and ready to sit on my dresser or to pack n go!

#Proutopia sticker on the move.

#Proutopia sticker here too relaxing with Edna and I.

Runs With Scissors - #Proutopia

Or two yesterday.  And what a lovely day it was with Edna and no rain until we got back to the city well after supper.

First we stopped at Whyewold Emporium and enjoyed a lovely well prepared lunch along with checking out the jewelry and antiques for sale there too with a stroll checking out the tomato and grapes growing outside.

Then we went to Heidi Hunter - Runs With Scissors Studio, #Proutopia - a Pop Up Art Market event out west of Winnipeg Beach where we chatted and checked out some 20 artisans set up in tents around her property.  Lovely event and beautiful items and entertainment.  And yes I was bad but love my purchases.  Thank you Heidi for arranging this.

I wanted to snatch these bunches and run!!!

Heidi sells bamboo clothing and shoes from Mexico.

Only about 1.5 x 3 inches.  Yes hanging on my window now.

Not MIA - Just Quiet

OK first off THANK YOU to Sylvia for the lovely Angel - her appreciation of my patience, consideration, helpfulness and caring during our trip to Ireland - a trip she would not have made herself.  You are very very WELCOME Sylvia, like I said many a time without a roommate I may have had to cancel my dream trip.  Yes we both have lovely memories and pictures to remember for a long time.

I just got back in time for our annual OMA's - AURORA picnic - small turnout but lovely!  We even presented Virginia with her Comfort Quilt.

NOW as for getting back to the grind, well work is still a mystery as the Dept. is once again undergoing major reorganization with some closing of offices, shuffling around of staff to fill required vacancies and realigning branches.  The magic day is June 30th and those affected (me included) should be in our new positions with new responsibilities.  Personally I'm trying to take one day at a time and keep an open mind but with many questions and rampant chitchat some days it's really hard.  I'll survive but I can tell you this definitely is solidifying my retirement plans.

In the meantime I've tried to escape the sweltering heat in my apartment (AC still in the locker) by joining the Crescentwood quilting group at the community centre and actually went to their mini retreat day and stitched up my MPQ Bali Strip Challenge quilt strips together.  WOW what a full day of sewing in a cool place.  While matching up darks with lights of all those strips I only messed up 2 sets - not bad for me I'd say.  Then the following Wednesday evening was their weekly get together and I actually squared off blocks and marked for HST stitching using my new Quick Quilter II ruler - thank you Ann!

NOW Friday evening Harold my awesome handyman came over and once again used his ingenuity (for easier and faster future in & out) and installed my AC so now I'm comfy and actually have some energy to do some work in here!!!  Then we anchored my four plastic towers and set the gifted counter top (thank you Margo) and VOILA I'm in business.  We then tackled the Harold designed movable Cork/Peg Board and even used the cutting table to trim the cork to fit and glue together.  By this time it was midnight and I was afraid we were making too much noise and asked that we quit for today.  Harold wanted to check the locker yet and see what he still needed to do in order to add the third shelf for more storage for me.  Only needed one notch to be cut in one board and when he's got time he'll be back to finish that off!  WOW then I can get some storage stuff reorganized and more out of my apt closets to the locker and then back to the apt reorganization full speed ahead.  THANK YOU Harold!

SO today I'm actually doing laundry, reorganizing half of the sewing room and maybe take some time to cut apart the HST and press them ready for Wednesday's stitching together into the actual "Strip Twist" quilt top.  Well maybe plan out the various twists before sewing blocks together!

OK enough for today!  But hopefully more soon.  Sorry no pics or stories as yet about Ireland.

Ravenesque Stitching Night

I had a lovely evening, thank you very much Pat for hostessing it – I just love stitching time there and sorry we kinda went over the time too. AND yes I am jealous for such a bright and cool studio with such AWESOME creativity displayed too!!! I must also say thank you Pat for that trim you gave to me - it was just the touch on that seam treatment for my CQd block.

My apartment is just too warm no matter what the season unless I have the AC working then that room is too cool – Go Figure!!! I also love that working table you have – one of these days I’m going to have to look into fixing myself up decently!!! I know I have to get rid of the lousy arm chair and space occupying couch that is just a project depositor and very very very seldome used as intended!!! There is so much I’d love do but so little time and funds – gotta prioritize I guess!!!
