Book #349
I have returned to Smith's 3-section sewings for today's book. This particular book also features my first attempt at batik, which I backed with cloth so I could use it as book cloth.

Book #331
I have decided that this stitching pattern looks like little stems, like flower stems. If you are looking for instructions for this one, check Smith's book 1, 2, and 3 Section Sewings and look for the one he calls Pinched Ps.

Book #322
Yet another 3-section sewing that I tripled to bind a 9-section journal. When there are just 3 sections, it really does form a simple S shape.

Book #321
This is actually a 3-section sewing that Smith calls Hs. I used it to sew this 9-section journal and shuffled the pattern for the middle three sections and I think the result looks like an ascii robot.

Book #318
Now I am just renaming things all over the place. This is another 3-section sewing that I learned from Smith's book and if you are looking in his book for instructions, it is called Diagonal Ts.

Book #317
I have a couple more 3-section sewings to show you before I move onto some different bindings. Today's is a coil stitch, also learned from Smith's text. If you wrapped it a bit more tightly it could be called a packed coil.

Book #316
I did it again, just changed the name of the sewing pattern. If you're looking for the instructions, Keith Smith named this binding open book. I enjoy this renaming process, I almost want to go back and rename all the previous ones with, what I think are, unsatisfactory names.

Book #315
Today's binding is another 3-section sewing that I learned from Smith's book (1, 2 & 3-section sewings). The thing I like least about this one, and some of the others, is the name he has given it. So I changed it, to make it more intriguing. If you are looking for his instructions, though, you will find it listed as Alternating Looped Bars.

Book #314
Today's binding is a 3-section sewing called 'rocket'. I like this much more than yesterday's book.

Book #307
I have a few more bindings from Smith's book (1,2 & 3 Section Sewings) this week. Today's is a 3-section binding called Pisces.

Book #279
I could not allow myself to skip an entire month! So, today I tried another one of Smith's three-section sewings. As with many of my previous examples of three-section sewings, I have tripled it to make a book with nine sections.

Book #275
Allowing myself to take one day off last week was obviously the beginning of a very slippery slope. But I am back today with another of the 3-section bindings from Smith. This time I picked one that he calls 'folding Vs' and I repeated it so that I could bind six signatures.

Book #274
Yesterday I finally missed a day in this mad blog project, gasp! I may have to admit that the remaining 91 bindings will take longer than 91 days to appear on my blog. I have been extra busy lately anyway so it has been more difficult to find the time for everything. There are several bindings left on my list that I want to include, but they are not structures that I can learn and produce in a single day. So I would prefer to take my time and do them well, rather than force out substandard work every day.
But for today, I have another of the 3-section bindings from Keith Smith's book (1,2, & 3 Section Sewings). I repeated the sewing three times to make a journal with nine sections.
This journal is available in my Etsy shop.

Book #248
This is another 3-section sewing pattern that I found in Keith Smith's book. Then I doubled it for 6-sections.
This journal is for sale in my Etsy shop.

Book #244
I almost forgot to update my blog today! It is 11:47pm in my own timezone as I type this, so I have a few minutes to get this published. I have not missed a day yet. This book is an example of another 3-section binding that I made from Keith Smith's instructions.

Book #220
This is one of Smith's 3-section bindings using uneven bars, which he calls Beethoven's Fifth.
