IN the Prospectus -which the NORTH AMERICAN LAND AGENCY has already published faeir Tievra , it is hoped , have been sufficiently explained as regards the promotion of Emigration to Lands and Esiaies , purcha&ed through Ub intervention ia Canada , &c The Agents t » Kfident ! y ecJKait , howover , that the vame views , more fully developed , may be made essentially usefol , not only to tte unetnployed classes in this country , but also to those who are possessed of-come capital , rfeough insufficient la amount to secure , of itself , their permanent welfare and prosperity . It -will be admitted that Emigration has heretofore been conducted on a system productive , in the a « Kreg » te , of mcch individual hardship and distress—and especially to the Emigrant of the poorer class ; for on arriving at his port of debarkation , he has found himself , generally speaking , with little or ; no money , and so friends to assist him in procuring work , or even to point out in what part of tbe Province ia would be most likely to obtain it , —while he who possessed some little capital has met with similar difficulties , in making choice of a location . Canada , though all things considered , perhaps the most important ef our colonies , is virtually a terra incogtdla—simply because there is no one willing , if able , £ o afford the requisite infuraaiioa to those who seek it , and it is this deficiency which it i the aim and object of tbe Agents effectually U > remedy . There ere hundreds in Great Britain anxious to emigrate , but who , from want of sufficient means ' % re deterred from , or unable to do so . To such the Agents can offer facilities heretofore unthought of , and unattainable ; for example ; : —A man haying no more than £ 100 , would not better bis situation by emigrating to Canada as an agriculturist—for the purchase of his Land , and tbe unavoidable preliminary expenduure'tbereon , the expeEoe of conveyance thither , and his support , however frugal , until his first crops were . gathered in , wocld absorb more than his entire capital , even under the most favourable circumstanoes . Such a capital , on the contrary , would be found not only sufficient on the plan proposed lay the Agetts , as hereafter « splained , but at the same time , immunity from the usual hardships and privations would be secured , and to the prudent and industrious a comfortable and permanent competency in Ihe futore . But the great body of oar emigrating population is composed of persons having no capital whatever , generally without even the sseanB of paying their passage-money to a Colony , however approximate to the mother country . The sufferings which too often befal these poor people , are greater than would be generally Relieved—not on shipboard , for there they are now well-cared for , owiag to the strictness with which the wholesome regulations of the "Passengers' Act '' are enforced by the Government Emigration Agents here and in Canada . It is on their arrival in the Colony that the struggle really oommences , a struggle sot confined to tbe mere labourer , but more or less participated in by the small capitalist to whom reference was first made . Be vast search for his Land in a country , to the localities of whioh , its soil and seasons , he is a perfect stranger ; and when selected , however judiciously , he must live upon his own resources until the ensuing harvest . He must-erect bis own log house , clear and fence his laud , wasting valuable time , and spending much his already too scanty capital unprofitably , from inexperience in tbe work he has undertaken . . , : | The former , on landing at his destined port , applies for work , whioh if unattainable on the spot , he must seek for elsewhere , or starve . If without funds , he is provided by the Emigration Agent appointed by Government , with a free passage in a steam boat to wherever he chooses to go , and then every resource but his own labour ceases . It may not beirrelevent to mention , that the money thus expended in Caaada 1 in 1842 , was £ 18 , 161 ; aod ia 1843 , nearly £ 9 , 000 ; Emigration in the latter year having fallen off 51 per cent , as compared with tbe former : a plain proof of the generally helpless condition of our emigrating brethren , and that the distress alluded to is far from being exaggerated . I Tho Agents will now proceed to state as briefly as possible , those remedial measures which they are j sanguine enough to hope may remove in a great degree , if not altogether , the oviIb complained of . . Itias be * n observed in the first prospectus' that tho Agent in London has for sale upwards of 600 , 000 Acres of Land in different parts of Upper and Lower Canada ; and it is in a great degree owing to the exceedingly low terras oo which the Agents are authorised to dispose of some of the best of these properties that they are enabled to effer to tho consideration of the public the followine scheme : — The statement marked A shows , that with no greater capital than £ 77 , a single man , forming onb op a -pabtt of not less thaw TE 5 FAMILIES , oh principals , will acquire in fee simple , or Freeho ld Land to the extent of 180 Acres . That for a man and his wife , or two Bingle men , the capital required will be only £ 87 , or £ 44 $ 10 s . each ; with one child , £ 92 5 s ., or £ 30 15 s . each ; the amount per head decreasing as the numbers in a family increase . It has been remarked , that with so small a sum at command as £ 100 , the agriculturist would not better his condition by emigrating ; and it is presumed that the reasonB given are a sufficient evidenoe of the fact . The plan now submitted goes , however , to prove that even this small stock of money , eaa be made not only ample for all useful purposes , but will leave & fund to meet contingencies . j = Tne statement marked B shows in like manner the Capital required to entitle the Emigrant to 50 Acres of Land in Freehold , and this Bcalo 18 intended to apply to those who depend upon the assistance of others , partially or wholly , to enable them to emigrate . ' ' j To this table the Agents bespeak the especial attention of those vrho support Emigration from beneTolent views . Looking at the brightest sido of the picture , it has been ^ to the poor man , merely a j transition from labour in one country , to labour in another , with the prospect , if successful , of saving in ' the course of years , sufficient to procure those advantages which are hera offered him on setting foot in Canada . Not only will he be exempt from tbe prospect of want , provided of course he be prudent and indestrious , but lie will be spared those hardships and privations heretofore inseparable from the change of home and country ; and secure to himself a state of comfort and independence beyond any expectations he could ever have Tenvared to indulge in . , The public may fairly require tome guarantee beyond the mere character of the Agents , that they ' have the power as well as the inclination , faithfully to carry out that which they undertake to perform . j Sncfc a guarantee they are prepared to offer , and in a form which they trust will be approved of They propose'That when the purchase is made , the money contributed by eaoU family or principal shall be placed in the hands of the Backers of the Agency , in London , in the joint names of the Agent in London , and some one appointed by ihe Settlers , to be applied in the manner following , viz .: — 1 . To pay the purchase money of the Land bo soon as the Title Deeds of the same , legally executed in the Colony , are delivered over to the Purchasers . 2 . To defray the Passage Money of the Settlers in ihe manner usually practised in Emigrant Ships , and j ¦ 3 . To repay all other disbursements undertaken b y the Agents , eo as , but not before , the Settlers shall have arrived on tkeir location , and are therefore in actual possession of the settlement prepared t for them . j North American Land Agency , RICHARD NORMAN , j ?< o . 2 , New Broad Street . THE BEST MEDICINE UJ THE V'ORLD ' KEATJ ! AND JUDGE FOR YOimSfiLVES . ' 1 rpHE following statement of facts has beencom-JL municated to the Proprietors of PARR ' ii LIFE PILLS : — Messrs . T . Roberts and Co . Malton , Jan . SO , 1843 . Gemtleraen , —^ Thou gh it igrbut a very short time siuce 1 last wrote tor a supplyoT parr ' s Life Pills , 1 find that owing to an astonishing increase in the sale of them , I am again compelled to request you to send me twenty , dozen of ihe small , as also a supply of the large 6 ize . I should wialyyoa to forward them by railway to York , thence b y carrier , asaarly as possible , as I am afraid my present stock will be ex hausted before they reach me . I enclose you the case » f a person who reside . ? in Ma ^ ton , and whose testimony may be relied upon aB being strictly correct . This is but one case selected from an almost incredible number of others , which have come under my notice , in which cures have been effected by tb ^ use of Parr ' s Life Pills . Many highly respectable persons in this neighbourhood , who previous to , the introduction of Parr's Life Pills had a decided dislike to Patent Medicines , are now thankful that they are able to add their testimonials to the beneficial efiests of these pills , By forwarding me , withodt delay , the quantity of pills as ordered above , you will oblige , Gentlemen , yours , respectfully , J . WRANGHAM . Gentlemen , —When I consider the very great relief 1 have experienced from the use of ParrLife Pills , 1 think it not only to be my duty to you but to every one who may be suffering from similar complaints with which I have been afflicted , to make my astonishing case as public as possible . For along time past I have been greatly troubled with a . most severe nervous complaint , giddiness , aud swimming in the head , which increased to such a degree that at times I was compelled to leave off from my work being unable to bear the least fatigue or excitement . At the suggestion of many of my friends , I was induced to try various medicines , but found that my complaint instead of diminishing , was daily growing worse . Having fortunately heard of the beneficial offects of Parr's Life Pills , I resolved to give them a fair trial , though 1 must confess with but ilittle hope of deriving benefit from them , after having tried so many other medicines without success ; I immediately purchased a small sized box of Mr . Wrangbam , chemist , the only agent for the sale of them in Malton , and fortunate indeed has it been for me that I did so , for though I have just finished taking this one box , I find myself so far relieved'that instead of paily , nay hourly , suffering from that dreadful complaint , nervousness , with its attendant miseries , I am restored to my former good health ; my nerves are strong—the giddiness and swimming in my head are totally removed , and I am now able to attend regularly to my trade . Allowing you to make whatever ose you may think proper of this statement and being truly grateful for the benefit I have obtained from taking Parr ' s Life Pills . I am , Gentlemen , your obedient Servant , THOMAS PATTISON , Painter N . B . I shall be glad to answer any enquiries respecting the good the pills have done ma . To Mr . T . Roberts and Co ., Crane Court , Fleetstreet , London . A most extraordinary Case of Curecomtnnnicated by Mrs . Moxon of York . Mrs . Mathers ; of that City , had for many years been affected with a most inveterate dise ase , which her medical attendants pronounced to be Cancer . It originated in her breast , and continued to spread nearly all over her body , defying every effort of surgical skill . Parr's Life Pills being recommended to her , she resolved to give them a trial ; and , speaking of the result , she says she cannot express the inconceivable advantage which she haa already derived from them . She further states that Bhe is now almost well , and ascribes her convalescence solely to the persevering use of that sovereign medicine Parr ' a Life Pills . From F . MaUheiajz , Jaffra , Ceylon Jaffra , October 17 th , 1842 . Sir , —I beg to inform you that having undertaken the small supply of the celebrated Parr ' s Life Pills , lately received nere from you by the Rev . P . Percival , tbey have met with a very rapid sale , and the constantly increasing demand from every part of the province ensures to a very large extent success to tho dealer , and good to tbe people at large . May I theiefore take the liberty of requesting you wiil be good enough to send me 1000 boxes by tho very first opportunity , making , if you please , the usual discount to purchasers of such large quantities . I beg to remark that the value of the above will be given by me into the hands of the Rev . Mr . Percival , who has kindly offered to be responsible to you fo the same . I remain , your obedient ervant . F . MATTHEISZ . Please address me F . Mattheisz , Jaffra , Ceylon . From Mr- R . Turner , Lewton . To Messrs . T . Roberts & . Dear Sir . —I beg leave to tender you my warmes thanks for the great benefit which 1 have recieved from your valuable Parr's Life Pills in the cure of a distressing 6 pecies of fluttering , or palpitation of the heart , which I experienced some years , and wbioh has now , by the ubo of three small boxes of your invaluable medicine , entirely left me ; and indeed , 1 now enjoy bettor health and spirits than I have done for some time . Hoping you will , fcr the benefit of the public at large , make my case known , I remain , Gentlemen , yours , very gratefully , RICHARD TURNER . N . fl , _ Any person who may not credit this state ment may , by referring to me , obtain satisfactory answers to their enquiries . R . T . To Messrs . T . RobertB and Co ., Proprietors of Parr ' s Life Pills , Crane-Court , Fleet-street . Communicated by Mr . H . Foster , Chemist , Winchester . East Stratton , near Winchester , Dec . 13 th , 1842 . Sir , —You will remember I sent to your shop for a bottle of medicine round which was a paper containing testimonials of cures effected by the use of Parr ' s Life Pills . Amongst many others I observed one ; a case of Rheumatism , which appeared to me timilar to my own case , and seeing it so successfully treated , simply by the use of Parr ' s Life Pills . I resolved upon giving that invaluable medicine a fair srial . 1 had been afflicted with Rheumatism many years , and at the timo to which I refer was suffering Acutely . I determined , as I have said , on giving Old Parr ' s remedy a fair trial ; and accordingly sent for a box of the Life Pills . By the use of these pills I am enabled to say that I am now as well as ever I have been during the whole of cay life . Thank God , I can now walk as well as ever I did . At the time when I first tried Parr ' s Life Pills , I could scarcely walk during the day-time ; and at night I could get no sleep . I am now enjoying excellent health , and sleep soundly , and I am free from pain of every kind . I am , Sir , yours , &c . JAMES DANIELLS . ( aged 50 years . ) Mr . H . Fostor , Chemist , Winchester . Parr ' s Life Pills are acknowledged to be all that is required to conquer disease and prolong life . No medicine yet offered to the world ever so rapidly attained such distinguished celebrity ; it is questionable if there now be any part of the civilized world where its extraordinary healing virtues have not been exhibited . This signal success is not attributable to any system of advertising , but solely to the strong recommendations of parties cured by their use . At this moment the Proprietors arc in possession ef nearly 560 letters from influential , respectable , and intelligent members of society , all bearing testimony to the great and surprising benefits resulting from the use of the medicine . This is a mass of evidence in its favour such as no other medicine ever yet called forth , and places it in the proud distinct tion of being not only the most popular but the most valuable remedy ever discovered . CAUTION—BBWABB OF IMITATIONS . In order to protect the public from imitations , the Hon . Commissioners of Stamps have ordered tbe words Park ' s Lipb Pitts to be engraved on the Government Stamp , which is pasted round the side , of each box , in white letters on a bsd ground Without this mark of authenticity they are spurious and an imposition ! Towwy , Postmaster of Joslin ' e Comer , MaddiBOU County , writes as follows : — Gentlemen—I have sold many boxes of Parr ' s Life Pills , and they have given universal satisfaction , and it is my candid opinion that they are destined to supersede all the other Pills now in use . Their mild operation and fine balsamic properties mil make them universal favonritef . I hme used the Pills to my family , and find them to bean excellent medicine , and I shall recommend them accordingly . To Messrs . T . Roberts and Co ., Proprietors of " Parr ' s Life Pills . " 304 , Broadway . Gentlemen—I cannot refrain from expressing my gratitude and thanks for the benefit which , under Providence , my family and self have received from the use of your invaluable " Parr's Life Pills . " I have used them constantly in cases where every other medicine has failed , to remove the most tormenting sufferings I experienced from habitual cost tireness and bilious attacks , accompanied by dim * ness of Bight and nausea , with complete prostration of the digestive functions . I am now completely recovered , as I believe , solely by the use of . ' Parr ' a Life Pills . " Finding them so efficacious in my own case , my wife concluded to give them to our children , instead of the uncertain and ignorant prescriptions which are frequently recommended in the drug stores . I am happy to say , that notwithstanding the last summer was one of the most siokly and variable knovfn in New York for many years past , yet my children did not suffer a single attack of summer complaint which i& bo fatal to young children . I consider " Parr ' s Pills" the best medicine ever used , and free from the objections of violence of action and prostration of strength , to which all others I have UBed are liable . You are at liberty to use my name , and on reference to me , I shall cheerfully confirm my opinion and experience of your Pills . Respectfully , CHA . S . A .. Although our agents are constantly on the alert , and the great difficulty and expense of imitaing our labels on and around our boxes of pills , are strong ; safeguards , we are determined , at any cost , to proteot ourselves from the cupidity of dishonest persons , and the public from the danger of a spurious imitation of our medicine .
