You don't need masks or hidden identities to be mysterious. Take Névoa, the shadowy Portuguese entity who have always seemed to be enwreathed by their namesake without unseen faces or names, or even any particular cult of personality around them. The core duo of João Freire and Nuno Craveiro, responsible for all instruments and vocals since the band's inception in 2014 and accompanied by a stable cast of musicians when they perform their intensely enveloping live shows, have always known exactly how to evoke an aura of cloudy distance and pervasive gloom with their music alone, ever since their debut.

“Rudimental Harmony” is the title of a new EP which marks a clear shift for Névoa as they now embrace their subdued nature by purposely relying on a limited number of acoustic instruments. In a completely instrumental album, the nyckelharpa and the drums are in a constant improvised dialogue.
