warrenpike Absolutely stunning album, ome of my favourites from 2024 and one of the all-time great debut albums in my opinion. New Ghost create such a unique atmosphere, blending heaviness with a dreamy effect. I will be following the band closely! Favorite track: Red & Blue.

Michael This album is worth it for the Dreamsong - Viscera - Red & Blue sequence alone. They picked an awesome band name, because they honour the ghosts of some great artists who have come before, while offering something new and highly listenable. Favorite track: Red & Blue.

Gary Davidson A Dagger In Every Tide is a delicious combination of reverb drenched guitars, haunting vocal melodies and a gallon of ideas that are distilled and aligned beautifully. If there is an ounce of you that likes shoegaze then New Ghost will serve you something you will want to return to with A Dagger In Every Tide.

Like Lazarus 02:41
When we survive, I know We'll have to pretend this empty feeling's not overwhelming When we arrive, on the shore The future is fear Now bombs are falling, all around us You can't (burn it down) Let go (start again) Now that we've grown old, I'm afraid I'm losing my leaves The mountain's calling Now you can't run from Seventeen and alone, I know The one that was lost I'm used to hiding everything You can't (burn it down) Let go (start again)

Sometimes, I fall to pieces Under cherry skylines Come melt me down Saviour, pull me under Fill my, landfill heart With sulphur and awe It's a lie now All you've fought for (I can feel the weight in my heart) It's a lie now All young violence (I can see the damage is done) Now that the static breaks up I dreamt the surface burnt up When everything's a nursery rhyme A ticker tape parade A monument There used to be A safety net I've seen them cut the ropes To watch them fall The acid rain Burns away, your experience Now everyone, you've ever loved Is in focus now you're at the end (I can feel feel the weight in my heart) (I can see the damage is done)

Over 06:30
Are you still awake, or were you overwhelmed Still a day drunk Still a lost cause Are you still in tune, with all of your old haunts For any old heartache At any old time How many things Are you running from A weight on your chest The wolf at your door I'm still immune, to all of the walls you caved in On the anniversary You let us all down Are you still awake, climbing the walls for release You're now a sun bleached photo You can't make out How many things Are you running from A weight on your chest The wolf at your door Spare yourself All your effort's a folly Hope's a dangerous word You sleep on river beds Now I hold you in my mind I know truth is a fuzzy thing When all the leaves were green You said that change would be easy to come Now all the leaves are brown And I can't even find my way home anymore Now all the leaves are black And all the leaves are grey And I don't even know who I am anymore I can't even find me anymore How many things Are you running from A weight on your chest The wolf at your door I have seen the ending I can circle down There is more to come All this bellyaching I can circle down There is more to come

Dreamsong 05:09
Hope is just a stone, it grows a rope around your heart And then it's gone We used to fall amongst the seven hills I never knew how much you needed to survive Just breathe in and give up Pretend it isn't real Your life is just a dream Turn me into something new A needle on a record at the start It's useless now, when time is just an atom bomb A reason to exist is not enough Just breathe in and give up Pretend it isn't real Your life is just a dream It's easier, it's easier It's crawling up in my head Taking over the space Running us through with red Disappear I descended All the way I was years off I'm a captain of the Mars I'm a thousand years dead I'm a raven I'm a waif I deserve to lose I put flowers, on your grave But I know the truth It's crawling up in my head Taking over the space Running us through with red Disappear So much for planning your escape I waited too long

Viscera 06:30
Someone stole the viscera I'm sinking into sand Now I'm evaporating each and every night Tumble through kalaedoscopes The words are out of reach Then in a momentary lapse I disappear I see a rosary, now there's only fear The world's a broken heart And everything ends And when you feel yourself collapse and then it breaks (it breaks apart) The end won't justify the means Nothing is easier than giving in Failed to follow through on any future you design The world's a carnival that's swallowing the light Stumble through kalaedoscopes It's following me home Then in a momentary lapse, I am gone I see a rosary, now there's only fear Everything's suffocating And everything ends And when you feel yourself collapse and then it breaks (it breaks apart) The end won't justify the means Nothing is easier than giving in Are you wondering why we don't say your name at all? And when you feel yourself collapse and then it breaks (it breaks apart) The end won't justify the means Nothing is easier than giving in If we ever meet again Under some exotic skin Won't you dream me home? It's never easy How can we know that you've lived If you never write it down You're a phantom now You break too easy It's as though you've died again Suddenly the message fits It's inevitable It's never easy Fall apart Everything Just give up Just give up

Red & Blue 07:28
Thorazine Theres an end to me I don't mean anything, to anyone Follow me, through a lucid dream Where there's no symmetry, or innocence Under the ocean Theres a path you can follow Where the moon never let's you back Under the ocean there's a path you can follow Where the moon never let's you back Extricate Me from your memories I'm just a symbol now, for entropy Follow me, through a lucid dream Where there's no imagery to navigate Under the ocean Theres a path you can follow Where the moon never let's you back Under the ocean there's a path you can follow Where the moon never let's you back Wasted, all my orchids On a real thing Our position's lost in static Send a rescue The east is lost The west is fallen So bury me with who I belong with here You're a festival of light I'm just a house with broken windows At the cemetery gates Another ghost, you walk right through I am red & you are blue, now there is nothing more I am red & you are blue, now there is nothing more I'm eroding every day but I could never go there with you I lived a solitary life, but there are loves That don't recede That don't renew I am red & you are blue, now there is nothing more I am red & you are blue, now there is nothing more I am red & you are blue, now there is nothing more I am red & you are blue, now there is nothing more I am red & you are blue, now there is nothing more I am red & you are blue, now there is nothing more Open hands I can see it through Open hands I'm not scared, if you're not scared Open hands I can see it through Open hands I'm not scared if you're not scared Wasted Always I can see Everything Everything

Wayfarer 04:33
I've circled down And come apart at the end I’ve been forgotten by friends I’ve given up I couldn’t wake From an infinite sleep I followed you in my dreams How could I stop I followed down, with you further Blue sorrow skies Can see what you’ve become A wayfarer I know I’m lost I danced with your ghost A dream without end I know i’m lost I danced with your ghost Comforting sound Another lie from your youth Another path you can’t choose Now you’re inured I’ve seen it all (all this love) There’s not a secret to keep I’ve been received by my kin The future’s done I followed down, with you further Blue sorrow skies Can see what you’ve become A wayfarer Wait The more you run The more you sink
8.
All Endings 05:29
I'm in mourning I've run in place too long I'm heavy water I'm crystallised in form Time's a reaper Now severed hands will lower you down the well Drown in amber Conjure me the ones We've lost Early warning Any fool would take Time's a landslide Your in a world that swallows you whole, alone Call the search off It's calling your every debt to close
9.
Slow 04:54
I'm ready, tear me apart I've seen the world disappear Now it's over I want to slow it down I want to slow it down Help me forget what I've seen I know you want to destroy everything Oh, I want to slow it down I want to slow it down I want to slow it down I want to slow it down I've tried to be where you are Death took you back like a thief in the dark Now I can't Let go I can't let go I want to slow it down I want to slow it down The floodgates are open The landslide it comes My body is burning My race it is run

“A Dagger In Every Tide” was written in the wake of a near death experience - the catalyst which imbued the record with a sense of loss and urgency, making the songs feel, at times, almost uncomfortably autobiographical. It also provided a narrative thread which weaves throughout the record, with the “narrator” imagining their death, and then searching for a long since deceased loved one in an afterlife buried away in their subconscious.

The avalanche of guitars that arrive with "Over" adorn a story of addiction, and of a life squandered. Album centrepiece, "Red & Blue", with its twisting melodies and time signatures, paints a picture of insurmountable grief and pain when confronted with someone you love being suddenly and violently taken from you. The song climaxes in a cacophony of catharsis, with wildly distorted sounds attempting to climb their way out of the speakers. The gurgling, warmly nostalgic "Wayfarer" reaches back into the depths of the darkest days of the last few years, where the overwhelming feeling of loneliness, and that you were coming apart at the edges, was ever present. "Viscera", with its dual drummer onslaught, barrels into ever escalating climaxes, finally settling into a calming, almost IDM finale that you'll want to play on a ten hour loop.

"...Dagger..." is the band charting new aural territories, reaching out into heavier, fuzzier, dreamier soundscapes more successfully than ever before.

"To have such a natural and immediate ability to transport a listener and allow them to sit in the clouds like Sigur Rós and then collide with the ground with such force like Hum is incredible. This deserves to reach every sub-genre fanbase the album touches on. 9 OUT OF 10" - NOIZZE

"A Dagger In Every Tide is a delicious combination of reverb drenched guitars, haunting vocal melodies and a gallon of ideas that are distilled and aligned beautifully" - ECHOES AND DUST

"If you want something that transcends classification and can be entwined with your very soul, it’s this album. Absolute class, beginning to end" - THE SLEEPING SHAMAN

"There are elements of Mogwai in ‘Wayfarer’ and the 5 1/2-minute ‘All Endings’, while the closing ‘Slow’ is a poignant piece with the words ‘I want to slow it down’ repeated over crashing drums and huge-sounding shoegaze-inspired guitar. It finishes with a fitting blast of furious feedback" - SPECTRAL NIGHTS

"This is the kind of thing I’ve only seen the likes of Sigur Ros or Mogwai achieve effectively. That face melting wall of sound yet losing none of the emotional impact at the heart of the song...it just floored me" - STATIC SOUNDS CLUB
