1960’s. A view of the Teerplein in the Haarlemmerbuurt neighborhood of Amsterdam. On the left the entrance to the Haarlemmer Houttuinen. The Teerplein and nearby Grote Houtstraat and Kleine Houtstraat were demolished in the early 1970’s and replaced with a wide traffic lane connecting the Haarlemmerplein with Droogbak. 1961. A view of the Waterlooplein flea market in Amsterdam seen towards the entrance of the Zwanenburgwalstraat. Waterlooplein is a square in the center of Amsterdam, near the Amstel. The square was created in 1882 when the Leprozengracht and Houtgracht canals were filled in. In 1893 the square became a daily marketplace. The market currently has some 300 stalls and is open every day except Sunday.
