Cognitive dissonance blended with confirmation bias. In other words, most believe what they WANT to believe. They will often go to great lengths to cling to that belief rather than even consider any contrary evidence, but will accept without question anything that seems to confirm what they want to believe. This is willful ignorance in action, and a hallmark of both religion and party politics.
Religious Realities
Is what you "believe" actually true? Or do you believe it because that's what you were TAUGHT to believe and never looked any further? If YOU, the same exact person, were born to, or adopted by, a family with a different religion or atheists, THAT'S what you would believe now, because that's what you were taught. Knowledge is power, educate yourself about all forms of spirituality, make up your OWN mind, then decide for YOURSELF what is true. That is the only path to true Freedom and Happiness.
