Product Details

This tapestry depicts the elegant figure of Flora, symbolising the Spring season and fertility, amidst a background of swirling aristolochia leaves with birds and animals. The drawing of the figure is attributed to Edward Burne-Jones (1833-1898), with the rich background and border by William Morris (1834-1896). This tapestry was originally produced at Merton Abbey in Surrey in 1885. The scroll in the top and bottom borders reads thus: I am the hand maid of the earth, I broider fair her glorious
