The song Sarasponda is a fun and catchy tune that your students will love to sing! This resource will teach about the origins of the song, explain a little bit about what a Spinning Wheel is and how it works, and then provides instructions to experience the song Sarasponda in the following ways: Sing the song: One slide provides the notation, and another slide simply displays the lyrics. Sing and Play: After learning to sing the song, students will add rhythm sticks while they sing. Sing and Play Another Way: Once they've mastered the rhythm sticks, students will pair up with a partner and play a more complicated rhythm stick pattern together. Sing and Play in a Circle: Students will apply the pattern they learned with a partner as a circle passing game. Sing, Play, and Move: The final prepared activity has students singing, playing rhythm sticks, and moving around the room. Create Your Own: After experiencing several different ways to add rhythm sticks to the song Sarasponda, students will work in small groups to create their own patterns. Each activity is explained on its own slides, so you can feel free to pick and choose the ones that will work for your students. All of the slides are included in a .pdf file. I have also included each slide as a separate .jpg file. If you would like to customize your presentation, you can insert these .jpg files into a fresh slide show using your preferred presentation software.
