The Streisand effect
The Streisand effect happens when someone tries to hide or censor information, but it actually draws attention to it. I view the Streisand effect as a show curtain, as it conceals the show behind it while capturing the attention of the audience. American actress and singer Barbra Streisand’s lawsuit against a photographer in 2003 is where this concept was coined. Her attempt to censor a photo became the very thing which drew attention to the photo she was suing to have taken off the Internet. Another example of this which I wish I did not have to mention was when Kanye West exposed Kim Kardashian's sex tape and her attempts to conceal it led to more people uncovering other ones.
