10K views · 607 reactions | Guajome Lake is a 12-acre lake within the San Luis Rey Watershed and is part of Guajome Regional Park. The lake is surrounded by marsh and a variety of plant species. Over 180 bird species have been spotted here including the endangered California Least Tern and the Light Footed Clapper Rail. Camping is available here as well as day use such as hiking, fishing, picnicking or enjoying the playgrounds and basketball court. The hiking trails are beautiful and shaded. We explored in the springtime when it was probably at its peak of lush beauty. We had a great time! Guajome Lake and the surrounding region has been inhabited by the Luiseños for thousands of years. Their traditional name of this area is “wakhavumi,” which translates to “frog pond”. Beyond the lake there are small ponds and marshes making this a great habitat for wetland creatures. You can see snow and ice in my video, but we had microspikes on and still turned around partway up! This view is actually from a view point about half way. There was still snow and ice to get to here but past this and the trail got completely covered and the barrier wasn’t tall enough for me to feel comfortable continuing.Even from this viewpoint, the sunset was one of the best I’ve seen! We got an amazing inversion and later it turned even better with some pinks and purples coming through!Definitely add this to your list for a summer trip! I’ve also lived in Washington for 8 years and have been to these each of these parks countless times. I recommend doing road trip in August or September for best conditions. You will need to plan for permits & accommodation ahead of time! 🌲 DAY 1 🌲 - Drive or catch the ferry (more scenic) to Olympic National Park - Stop in Port Angeles for food before driving up Hurricane Ridge - Explore Lake Crescent. 8.8K reactions · 1.6K shares | This Upstate NY town is so underrated! ✈️It’s time to add Ithaca, NY on your waterfall bucket list 🚘Best time of the year to visit: the waterfalls are good to visit year-round, however, snowmelt from the winter makes Spring an amazing time to see some roaring waterfalls, and the fall foliage season adds so much vibrant colors in these places. 🟢Taughannock Falls The waterfall is located in Taughannock Falls State Park, there are multiple trails to see the waterfall, we took the Gorge Trail which is a 1.8-mile RT easy hike that is suitable for all ages 🟢Ithaca Falls Located near the beautiful town of Ithaca, the hike to this waterfall is a quick 0.2-mile RT. This waterfall is truly spectacular and easy to get to. Dogs are welcome on leash too! 🟢Triphammer Falls This waterfall is located within the campus of Cornell University on Fall Creek. No hiking needed to get to the fall, you can get a good view from the suspension bridge. 🟢Wells Falls Another Ithaca treasure, Wells Falls sits next to an abandoned pumping and power station which adds to the uniqueness of this waterfall. Even though the hike to Wells Falls is only 0.2-miles RT, part of the trail is steep.
