It has taken me years to appreciate Psychonaut’s approach to progressive metal, which is equal parts post-metal and psychedelic, but now, as I have come to realise, they are a lot more distinct-sounding and coherent than several of their contemporaries. I do see some similarities to The Ocean (which is probably why I finally like Psychonaut), but the music here is less busy, less aggressive, and a bit warmer. World Maker sadly features one bad song, but the rest are total fire! Powerful stuff. Ippocalyptica
