Creating purple natural dyes and eco-prints
There are so many ways to create purple from natural dyes, depending on how you want to prep your fabric. When I’m using soy milk binder, another natural purple dye I love is eucalyptus bark plus iron. And some more eco-print leaves I love for purple are liquidambar, oak and pelargonium (dipped in iron mordant). And of course, Black Knight scabiosa can produce wonderful purple dyes and prints, as I’ve been showing in recent reels, although it is less colourfast than the other plants I’ve listed here. How about you? What are your favourite purple dyes or prints? 💜🌸🌿
