Restore antique trunk

Refinishing this classic old steamer trunk took a lot of work. After stripping the old paper lining the interior, we stained and polyurethaned the wood to a beautiful finish. The green canvas exterior was in good shape. But the straps needed to be replaced with old belts. The exterior wood was stained and the exterior brass accents were painted with Gold Leaf Rub n’ Buff.

This old trunk came to us partially dis-assembled by it's good intentioned owner. They had wanted to fix it up themselves, but realized it was way to big of a project for them. It still had a little bit of the green painted canvas and a few strips of metal left on the box, but other then that, it was in pieces.
