The color scheme adds to the winter/Christmas theme of the display. The almost monochromatic white adds the effect of a white Christmas. The snowflakes which are usually small is a good edition to add designs into the display. The snowflakes show off the unique designs on each one which is a big part of why the display works. the slight contrast with the black items in the picture really adds detail to that specific item much like the shoes,the present, and the center snowflake.
