And sometimes you know your baby is tired, but they are fighting sleep sooo hard. 👉🏼 Btw, did you know that an overtired baby actually has a HARDER time falling asleep and staying asleep? So how can you help soothe your fussy baby so that they can finally get some sleep...? 🌟 Introducing: The 5 S’s 🌟 This is a strategy used to soothe newborn babies and is often taught in hospitals, parenting clinics, and even in my newborn sleep masterclass! 🔸 First, make sure you are following @restedresults for all the sleep tips. 1️⃣ Swaddle - Wrap your baby up in a swaddle with arms snug and a bit looser near the hips. 2️⃣ Side or stomach - Hold baby positioned on their side or stomach (like a football hold). *please note this is not a safe sleeping position, baby should be placed on back for sleep* 3️⃣ Shush - Shush loudly or use a white noise machine to create the same noise baby heard in the womb. 4️⃣ Swing - Swing back and forth in fast (but tiny) movements. 5️⃣ Suck - Sucking on a pacifier, thumb, or breast. ↓ These are most effective when layered together, using at least two or more at a time. If the 5 S’s are not working, consider a few things: Is baby overtired? Under tired? Hungry? Gassy or uncomfortable? And are you using the 5 S’s correctly? ⭐️ Are you struggling with your newborn’s sleep? My Newborn Sleep Masterclass will teach you everything you need to know about newborn sleep and how to get the most of it. 💬 Comment “NEWBORN” and I’ll send you a message with more info on my masterclass and how to grab it for less than $40, AND a few free added bonuses. 😉 . . . #SleepCoach #SleepConsultant #NewbornSleep #BabySleep #SleepTraining #HowToTrain #SleepTrainingMethods | Jamie Hoff | Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant

3.1K views · 6.9K reactions | Here is why 🫶🏻 These were by far my most used baby items for months 0-3 for our 2nd baby! 1. Baby lounger - this is a safe place for me to lay our baby down if my hands were full or needed to take care of my toddler 2. Baby bouncer- another safe option to be able to set baby down but keep him safe. I especially use this when making dinner or we are eating. He doesn’t like to lay down all of the time so if he’s awake I’ll use this! 3. Manual breast pump - I use this every day! Especially early on I used it a lot in the middle of the night to relieve any engorgement. Way easier than dragging out an electric pump 4. Water bottle with a straw and handle- the thirst is unmatched when nursing..enough said. But get one with a handle and straw because that really is the easiest to use! 5. Egg night light - it has a dim and bright feature, small and portable making diaper changes a lot easier in the middle of the night. 6. Breast feeding pacifier- it’s really the only one on the market that mimics a true breastfeeding latch to help avoid any nipple confusion especially early on @ninnipacifier (only through them) Comment “baby” and I’ll send you the links! Is there anything else you would add to this list!? #momlife #newmom #newborn #motherhood | Rachel | mom life & social growth

We have @cignahealthcare which we are SO grateful for. Our family deductible is $3,000 and our max out-of-pocket for in-network expenses is $11,000. With insurance, all our breastfeeding support was FREE - thank you, Cigna! Our NIPT testing was optional, and we chose this to take the best care of our child regardless of their diagnosis and it wouldn’t have change the outcome of continuing our pregnancy. 🤍 To our future leaders - let’s do better when it comes to paid maternity and paternity leave in the United States. Bonding is crucial to set our children up for success, and maternal recovery is a non-negotiable. I’m so grateful to have a husband who has made sure I have the chance to be home with my baby for 12 weeks, and generous coworkers who have donated PTO 🙌🏼 How much did your babies cost you? A quick wipe in there, and your baby will feel so much better. 👣 Between Toes and Toenails Dirt and grime can accumulate under a baby's nails or between toes. 23K views · 5.5K reactions | Ignore the old advice “never wake a sleeping baby”. So when is it best to wake a sleeping baby? • After a nap of 2hrs. Daytime is for short stretches of sleep and night time is when we want to encourage longer stretches. If they sleep all day you might just have a baby partying all night. Don’t restrict daytime sleep with newborns, but wake to feed so they’re getting their calorie intake. As they get to around 12-14 weeks you will want to keep an eye on how much overall daytime sleep they’re getting IF it starts to impact night wakings. •Wake to feed no longer than 3hours after the START of their last feed. To ensure you’re getting enough feeds into them during the day - no it won’t mean they don’t wake at night but it will definitely help •If they’re still asleep at 8am (or a chosen wake up time) This is to ground your day and help with day to night confusion. If your baby is feeding all night (normal during growth spurts and first four weeks) then I would encourage as much daylight exposure and a first feed of the day no later than 8am. This really will help with day to night confusion and gradually support the development of their circadian rhythm • What about at night? once your baby has regained their birth weight and is gaining weight on a healthy trajectory you do not need to wake your baby overnight. I would however say that if your baby miraculously sleeps through the night early on, that you should wake to feed or pump between 1 and 4am to keep your milk supply up Hope this helps. I wasn’t prepared to both want to hold this little nugget all day long and also absolutely crave the flexibility to do the things I used to. As a mom with chronic illness and ADHD, I can be very demanding of myself. I have made it through so much and I have an extremely high standard. It can easily feel like I’m never doing enough or doing it right - anyone relate? 🥺 But knowing I’m doing the best I can and to this little human, it still means I’m doing EVERYTHING… it makes me want to be an example for him. I never want him to feel not enough because to me, he is my entire world. It’s ok to do what we can and savor the limited time we have. It’s ok to stop and be present. It’s ok to be a new mom, a business owner, a chronically ill person with a brain that goes 100 miles a second even if my body doesn’t. We never get this time back. We should learn to be ok, just being. To them, we already are everything. ♥️ #newborn #preemie #pcos #hashimotos #adhd #type1diabetes #chronicillness #momlife | Michelle Demarco-Amato
