Please TAG anyone who would find this video useful. There are so many things we gardeners can do to feel good even in the darkest days of the year and planting bulbs is one of them! Flowers make us happy and flowering Amaryllis in the middle of the winter is definitely something that cheers me up and reminds me of home. It’s a good idea to use higher pots or vases. They’ll support your Amaryllis stems. HOW TO DO IT 🧚🏻 If your container doesn’t have any drainage holes, just add some grit just as I did in this video. 🧚🏻Add some compost 🧚🏻 Place the bulb in the container and fill with a but more compost so that at

Sandie on Instagram: "In nature- tomato seeds ferment when the rotting fruit meets the bacteria in the soil! This process drastically improves the germination rate of seeds- and is why I ferment my tomato seeds before saving them! I get nearly 100% germination from my saved seeds! 🙌🏻 P.S. I love science!! 🤓"
Jamie Walton | Nettles & Petals on Instagram: "Saving Tomato Seeds! 🍅🌱 Tomatoes are some of my favourite crops to grow in the vegetable garden and saving your own seeds is super simple and satisfying too! 😊🍅 First, always try to select the best and fully ripe tomatoes to save from, and choose only un-hybridised open pollinated varieties, so avoid any with an F1 on the packet as they won’t reproduce true to variety. 🌱😕 If saving seed from a larger variety, like beefsteak, I would slice the tomato in half and open it up to reveal the seed cavities, then scoop out the seeds with a spoon or something similar and add to a glass jar or cup. 🫙🍅 If saving from a cherry tomato, it’s super simple, just give them a good squeeze. 🍅👌🏼 Top up the container with water to aid in fermentati
Jamie Walton | Nettles & Petals on Instagram: "My Favourite Tomato Variety! 🍅👈🏻 If I could only grow one tomato variety in the vegetable garden, this would likely be it. 🍅🌱 Costoluto Fiorentino is a large, ribbed beefsteak tomato variety, originally from the Tuscany region in Italy. 🇮🇹 It produces a really heavy crop, is good for canning and preservation and is just an all round great looking tomato with a flavour to match. 😋🍅 I grow them as annual plants, here in the UK, but I save seed from a couple of the best examples to grow the following season. So what’s your favourite tomato variety? 😊 #tomatoplant #heirloomtomatoes #gardening #gardeningtips #growyourownfood"
Vegetable Academy on Instagram: "There are two common complaints I hear from gardeners about their zucchini plants. One is that their zucchini plants just produce massive fruit with large seeds and tough skin. The other is that their zucchini plants are taking over their garden. Both of these problems can be avoided with the harvesting, pruning, and staking practices I describe in this video. Type “squash” in the comments if you’d like me to send you a post with more details about this method of growing zucchini. . . ."
Carpenter's Daughter - Vikkie Lee on Instagram: "Here's how I made my hinged hoop houses, which now have heir 2nd lot of veggies in for the year. These have been brilliant for keeping slugs and insects at bay with insect netting installed, and others with clear plastic. And when the weather gets cooler, I'll be placing tarpaulin over the netting to extend my growing season ❤️ Note, I've preferred insect netting as they're breathable and I can water through them! 🌟Comment "HOOP HOUSE" to find out how I made them! #hoophouse #growingvegetables #kitchengarden #girlswhogarden #girlswhodiy #hoophousing #polytunnel #gardendiy #allotmentbeginner"

Vegetable Academy on Instagram: "We’ve tested this no dig potato growing method over multiple seasons and with several different varieties. That list includes Norland, Smart, Red Sangre, Purple Viking, Bellanita, and Caribe so far. Yields from our three no dig potato beds this year averaged 1.5 lbs per square foot of bed space, which compares well with dug beds and is especially good considering we never lifted a shovel! Topping the no dig beds with mulch does take a bit more time than hilling the potatoes with soil, but the harvest is so much faster that the total labour time I’ve recorded for our no dig beds is still 30% less than a standard potato bed, and the work is much less physically demanding. You can find a detailed comparison of no dig, no till, and double dug potato beds
Sara Rubens on Instagram: "Tomato blight is a common issue that can be managed with proper care and treatment. Here’s a recipe for an organic spray to treat tomato blight: ### Ingredients: - 1 tablespoon baking soda - 1 teaspoon vegetable oil - 1 teaspoon dish soap (I like Castile Soap) - 1 gallon of water ### Instructions: 1. **Mix the Solution**: In a large container, mix the baking soda, vegetable oil, and dish soap thoroughly. 2. **Add Water**: Slowly add the gallon of water, stirring continuously to ensure everything is well combined. 3. **Transfer to Sprayer**: Pour the solution into a garden sprayer. ### Application: 1. **Identify Blight**: Look for signs of blight on your tomato plants, such as dark spots on leaves, stems, or fruit. 2. **Spray the Plants**: Spray the solution on
