Here I show the power of combining both soft slab and hard slab techniques. This lets me achieve the clean lines of a straight slab and also create curves that can usually only be achieved with the coiling technique or throwing on the wheel. Many of you have asked why I add the soft coil in between leather hard shapes. Firstly, this way I don’t have to add a soft coil on the inside, which would be quite challenging on narrow shapes. The coil also helps join the leather hard shapes more securely and avoid cracks as the piece dries and fires. Finally, the coil helps fill gaps between the two leather hard pieces that
