FEELING GUILTY FOR NOT POSTING MORE OFTEN

 Why do I feel guilty for not posting more often? Is it only me who feels this way?

It's so dark and gloomy today, snowy and windy and I thought I'd show you some color. One of my blooming Christmas Cacti. I tried to show the underside of the blooms with my cell phone  I had to use the Selfie mode.
                                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last night around 11:00pm, I was up later than usual. I was hooking on my rug and I got a ping on my cell phone.
I was wondering who could that be, so late at night.  My first thought was maybe some family member needed my help. No, it was Google, telling me that I had changed my password to my Google account one hour ago.
The only thing was, I didn't change my password. I went to check my Google account and I couldn't get in. It asked me to verify my new password but I didn't have a new password that I could verify. I got the runaround. So I turned off my computer and went to say my night prayers and got into bed and slept undisturbed all night.
Today at lunchtime, I told my husband what had happened to my Google account last night.  He said,         " Oh, I think I changed your password last night".  I said," Impossible, you could not have changed my password from your own computer." He said, last night I got into the Catholic Crusade site, (and being visually impaired), he got stuck somehow. He saw the red Subscribe sign and clicked on it and he said your name came up and it asked me to put in a new password and I did."
To make a long story short, I used to belong to that site years ago using my recovery email address, the same email address that he is using right now)  but I was getting too many emails and I unsubscribed from it because I couldn't keep up with all the emails.
 Thank goodness, he wrote down the new password. He gave me the password that he used and I tried it and it worked. I got back into my Google account.  Mystery solved. The only thing, I can't use my recovery email address, which is my old email address that we used to share together before I created my Google account for my blog.
 When my new laptop was set up, somehow,  it still had the old email address,  and when I click on the share button, it opens up to my old email which I can no longer access, so I cannot share.  My computer can only recognize my google account. I have no idea how to fix this, but life goes on.
                                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I have cuttings from my very own grown sweet potatoes started. I'll only show one here. I have others rooting in water that needs transplanting.

I finished my little baby blanket on New Year's day, a bit smaller than the other ones I've made earlier.  The pattern is very easy as it uses only a single crochet and a half double crochet.

This was what it looked like yesterday, today is snowy, what a contrast. I'll spare you the picture.

More color, of another Christmas cactus on this somber day.

This Christmas cactus has seen better days. It desperately needs either repotting or a new start but it keeps on blooming anyway. It's getting old and pot-bound.

It came crashing down yesterday as it's top-heavy and broke several branches but it's still blooming.

Thanks for stopping by. I enjoy reading your comments.

SURPRISE, A NEW POST AND IT'S SNOWING AGAIN.

Yes, it's snowing again. OK snow, you can stop now. We have more than we need and we don't want to be greedy.

A view of our snow supply on the deck from the back door of the sunroom. Yeah, history repeats itself and so do I. It's the same thing as last year so I go with the flow. lol...

Today was George's birthday so I baked a nice big carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. 75 candles are too many to put on a cake so I used pretend candles. It's one of my favorite cake recipes. The lighting was very poor but the cake was really good, lol...

My Christmas cacti are still blooming since November 16th even though I neglected my plants this winter. Some of the buds fell off and started blooming again after getting a good drink of water. They are almost indestructible but they are grateful for a drink of water. They dry fast in winter.

This is a Poinsettia that I got from Christine for Christmas 2017. A whole bunch of leaves fell off but it's surviving even though it suffered neglect also. It was late blooming this year. I think my restlessness affected my plants this winter.  I bought some soil and will give them some TLC and hope they will forgive me.

Thanks for stopping by and reading this old woman's rambling and leaving a comment. Please take care of yourselves, your pets, and your plants. Winter is hard on them as much as on us.
Hugs, Julia

COUNTING THE DAYS TO SPRING

Yep, that's what I'm doing, counting the days to spring. I googled and it tells me that there are 37 days, 11 hours and so many minutes and seconds to spring 2018.

I've been rather lazy this winter and neglected my house plants and since we use wood heat in the basement and first floor, the air dries out my plants as I've neglected to care for them like I used to and the soil dried out several times or maybe more than several times... It seems that I'd rather nap than water plants but they are tough and despite the neglect, they are rewarding me with late blooms this year. It could be that they are confused with the weather extremes.

This was a Poinsettia Christine gave me at Christmas in 2016, It was huge but I lost 2 plants in that pot because I let the soil dry, bad me... but it's still put on a show the best it could.

The Christmas Cacti also were neglected but despite their hardship, they survived with a little bit of attention.

The Poinsettias and Christmas Cacti used to bloom on time for Christmas but this year they were late and are blooming now and are not in the best shape but I'll take any blooms at this gloomy time of year.  The Christmas Cacti are almost finished blooming right now. We've had snow storms and rain repeatedly and it will be a long time before the outdoor plants give blooms... Somehow seeing real blooms on my houseplants kinds of gladens the heart.

I did a bit of hooking and I finished one mitten. I have the wrong size knitting needle for the pattern but the woolen mitten fits me perfectly. Now to start the other one.

I hope that you take heart if cold winter isn't your favorite season.
Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment.
