New Aqua Terra

Was passing by an AD yesterday and got first opportunity to look at the new Aqua Terra. Lovely that they are, does anyone else agree the predecessor is far more pleasing on the eye? (Prefer the previous casing/design, vertical lines, bracelet etc). Why was there a need to change it so relatively soon?

I thought this version posted by w. Finkenstead was stunning. Did you take a photo of what you saw?

I think I prefer these vertical planks, but the date at 6 works for me! I guess that makes me ambivalent about the new design!

As much as I like mine, I do have a fondness for the new:

Boutique lighting does the watch no favors but is still a bit more refined to my eye. I'm thinking the one Eddie Redmayne is wearing in Omega's recent Instagram campaign is the one I'll end up with next year.

I vastly preferred the vertical "planking" over the new horizontal style. Just my personal opinion of course, but I think Omega dropped the ball there..

Yes, that Skyfall is indeed stunning ..it's the newer one (albeit still nice) I don't like as much.

I didn't take photos (all on website).

I think I like the new horizontal teak version more, but, for me, it's still about the no-teak original. If buying new, I'd probably just go Globemaster, instead.

Gorgeous.

I guess the horizontal dial pattern will grow on me but the vertical 'teak' just, for me, flows better.

I like the vertical teak version best ( especially the Skyfall version with date window ) But I have to confess as well that the new design grows on me heavily.....

I agree. This picture always makes me want to get the blue version. For now though I'm pretty happy with my opaline dial.

I would love to see the vertical plank with the date at 6. I think that would look great, not that both of these don't look great in their own rite.

Like the vertical teak lines and male end-links of the old model. Like the symmetry and oversized date window on the new model, and the thinner case height of the 38 mm models. I think the new model could be a good platform for any number of special editions that don't feature a teak dial.

I'm a fan of the new Aqua Terra for the anti-magnetic properties; I don't have a huge preference for the horizontal or vertical style. I wouldn't pay more for the horizontal style though if there was a price difference.

There seems to be (yet another) price hike.

I as well do still prefer the MC blue. I like the vertical lines better and I actually really don't like the legend and hand in blue. To me it cheapens the whole thing making it , depending on how kind you are, too sporty or too toy-ish.

It's like they couldn't let it just be. It actually has plenty of design impact with the teak lines and the anti reflective crystal and the center polished links.... why then keep adding blue hands and legends? Too much.

The simple applied sea master legend on the Older versions is, by contrast, much more elegant.

See the Aqua Terra Day-Date:

I'm surprised so many Aqua Terra wears like the stripes in either direction, because I don't see a lot of mentions of tapestry dials on the Rolex forums, and they don't seem very popular.
