Friendly Friday Fill-Ins

Standard

It’s FRIDAY!   Time to fill in the blanks.    We have two wonderful co-hosts who come up with four wonderful sentences and WE complete the sentences with our very own words.   Fun?  Yep!   We do “Family” filling in so all three of us pick sentences to complete.

SO, here’s the key to who is filling in which blank:

BLUE/DAD

RED/MOM

GREEN/TEDDY

1. I would be willing to pay more for NOTHING – everything is too expensive as it is!.
2. I refuse to spend money on things that are on sale if I don’t NEED them in the first place.
3. My outside plant watering is a bit chaotic.   (that’s because our weather is so unpredictable – not good to overwater OR underwater!!)
4. A fun fact about me is that I have no idea that I’m a HUGE cat – but I like to be carried around!  Mom and Dad are not amused!__.

Done!   These were a bit tricky this week.    But that’s OK – we need the “brain workout” !!    Thanks to our co-hosts for this weekly fun.

Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Happy Thursday everybody.    Angel Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop is waiting for YOU to add your link to tell the world that you’re thankful for!  Just click the badge above and it will transport you there to enter your link.    We have some things to be thankful for today – not the least of which is we had a stretch of beautiful but hot days AND it’s about to be over with as we have four days of RAIN predicted.   Why am I thankful for that?    First we NEED wet – lots of areas are in drought and we are one of them.    Four days of rain ought to at least make a dent in that.    We don’t want any violent storms of course BUT we will take the wet.   We read about lots of weather-related disasters all around the globe lately – we think Mother Earth is NOT HAPPY.    After all, what does she have to be happy about?    Fires, war, violence- you name it – we’ve had it.   Anyway, let’s hope things head into an upswing soon.    You can always count on HOPE.

Thankfully Angel Sammy’s poem from the Rainbow Bridge reached us in time to post it today too.   Hopefully you have had a chance to write a poem for the photo he gave us last week.  If you did – SHARE IT!    We’d love to read it!

Now – let’s check our Angel Sammy’s poem……………………………and always be THANKFUL – very important.

Love, Teddy

Happy Poetry Day!

Hello friends……………time for us to share poems.   Every week we go through this exercise and I have to say, all of you who write a poem deserve a BIG HAND (or PAW) because you come up with wonderful poetry.   I love to read your work………..and I hope you continue to stick with me as we keep this blog fun going!

Here’s the inspirational photo I gave you last week AND my poem for the photo follows……………..

Sneaking A Read!

Mom came in and said “lights out”

She gave me a kiss while I tried not to pout

I waited a while – heard her bedroom door close

Then I climbed out of bed with my “tippy toes”!

I grabbed my book and hopped back in the bed

Grabbed my flashlight and made sure to cover my head!

On went the light – and I found my place in the book

I gave my bedside clock a VERY quick look

Sleepiness got me later – I said “I’ll just take a QUICK nap!”

Then before I knew it the window shade opened with a snap

Mom turned off the flashlight, and pulled down the covers

She said “You can fool some of the people some of the time….

But you can NEVER fool Mothers!!”

Well my Mom says she absolutely was guilty of “under the covers reading” when she was little.   Mostly it was picture books she loved.    Anyway, the photo brought back GREAT memories.    Hope you all had fun writing your poems too!

Here’s next week’s challenge photo:

What do you suppose was in this old trunk when it was opened up?

So I’ll see you all next week right?   Thursday is our POETRY DAY everyone………………….go for it!     Until then, please remember…..

Be Hopeful, Be Cheerful, Be Helpful

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

SPARK on Monday

Standard

SPARK on Monday – you know by now how this got started…..“SPARKS” was started by Annie McGuffy of McGuffy’s Reader but ended when she stopped blogging some time ago. It was meant to be a way to start out each week with a meaningful thought – something that spoke to each of us and hopefully everyone else who reads it. Although Annie isn’t currently blogging,  a lot of us who enjoyed her SPARKS decided to keep posting SPARKS of our own.    Feel free to join us even if this isn’t a Blog Hop – SPARKS are fun to find and share and think about and the more the merrier.  Just post a thought on Mondays – call it your SPARK – and perhaps your “followers will follow”.

My SPARK today is an interesting one……I had NEVER EVER realized it before!

Even though I remember tossing a coin for decision-making many times in years gone by as a funny way to settle something – this SPARK saying is RIGHT – totally RIGHT.    Funny it never occurred to me though.   Might just be my new (old) best way to make a decision.    I’ve noticed as I’ve aged that decision making gives me a headache – the coin toss resolves that.   I always DO wish the coin would land “my” way.    LOL

Happy Sparky Sunday

Sunday Selfie Hop

Standard

Happy Sunday!    Looks like it’s that time of the week again when we get together and show ourselves (or someone anyway!) off at the Selfie Hop.  Thanks to our hosts for continuing with this FUN event.   Always good to catch up on each other this way right?

Well, this week I’m doing a flashback.   Yep – another one.    I like to mix it up with ME now and ME then.   Hope you don’t mind.

Me a couple of years ago on the front sidewalk practicing my “signature sprawl” just about this same time of year……….I love the cool mornings in Spring – and I’ve been asking Mom to take me out earlier in the morning NOW so I can enjoy the peace and quiet….We knew you’d want us to jazz this photo up a bit – otherwise (other than seeing me!) it’s rather boring.   SO………………here we go:

This is pretty cool – haven’t used this art filter before but it’s called “COMIC BOOK STYLE” and I love the way the grass looks……SO we made a puzzle for you from this one which I imagine might be a BIT of a challenge with all that GREEN.

Just click this mini-me photo to do the puzzle and good luck!!

Have a super duper Sunday everyone……………………………..thanks for visiting us!

Bakin’ With Bacon and King Teddy

Standard

(Yes there’s a square around my potatoes – just ignore it – our editing program was being difficult!!)

Hello From The Castle!  A yummy treat today – with potatoes and bacon (yes we’ve been stuck on bacon and potatoes lately!)

Bacon Potato Pancakes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups grated potatoes, squeezed dry
  • 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes, crumbled bacon, chopped onion, beaten egg, flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Mix well.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Scoop 1/4 cup of the potato mixture for each pancake, flattening slightly in the skillet.
  3. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  4. Serve warm. The smoky bacon and crispy edges make these pancakes irresistibly crunchy and flavorful.

OK – I hear you complaining that you’re becoming “all baconed out”……well…..I’ll see if I can find some different recipes for you for next week.    If you have a favorite bacon recipe just send it to me with your photo and you can be my ASSISTANT CHEF!   What an honor – right?

SEE YOU NEXT WEEK!

Your Fearless Bacon Leader, King Teddy
