A dystopian novel by Jack London, describing attempts to revolt against an oligarchic authoritarian American regime, which rose in reaction to socialistic sentiment. Eventually the rebels succeed, but it takes them centuries to take down the 'Iron Heel'.

1933 (Germany): Despite the popularity of London's adventure stories in Germany, the Nazi regime could not let stand London's praise of socialism, and his criticism of an imaginary regime that had definite resemblances to later European Fascism. They banned and burned this work in 1933.
