The Legends of the Jews

This is an annotated collection of Jewish legends of Biblical figures, compiled by Louis Ginzberg. It was issued in English translation in a 7-volume set. Volumes 1-4 contained the legends, volumes 5-6 contained notes on the legends, and volume 7 contained an index.

All of the legends and volumes are in the public domain and available online. The index volume, prepared by Boaz Cohen and published in 1938, will not be public domain in the US until 2034, due to a renewed copyright.

This is a "meta-book", which stitches together separate files elsewhere on the Web as they appeared in a previously published book. It is subject to removal if someone produces an integrated edition. If that happens, The Online Books Page will point to the integrated version.
