Michigan Manual

Michigan Manual is a manual and directory for the Michigan state legislature. The exact title has varied over time. It has usually been published biennally, for each legislative session.

Publication History

The earliest Michigan Manual we know of was a handwritten book produced in 1836, titled "Legislative Manual of the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of Michigan". No issue or contribution copyright renewals were found for this serial. It has been known simply as the Michigan Manual since the 1959/1960 volume.

Persistent Archives of Complete Issues

• 1836, 1845-1850, 1853, 1857-1932, 1935-1976: HathiTrust has most Manuals up to 1976. Access to some volumes may be restricted outside the United States.
• 1837-1839, 1841: HathiTrust has additional Manuals from the late 1830s and early 1840s.
• 1933-1934: HathiTrust has the 1933-1934 Manual. Access may be restricted outside the United States.
• 1999-present: The Michigan State Legislature has complete manuals from 1999 onward, and excerpts from manuals from 1961 until then.
