The New Orleans Christian Advocate was a weekly Methodist newspaper sponsored by Methodist conferences in Louisiana and various nearby states.

Publication History

"The Christian Advocate" has been the name of various Methodist periodicals over time. The New Orleans Christian Advocate began as a publication of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, Louisiana Conference, in partnership with conferences in Alabama, Arkansas, and Mississippi. It published a specimen issue in 1850, and its first regular issue in 1851. Publication may have been suspended for a time around the Civil War. No issue or contribution copyright renewals were found for this serial. In 1946, the last year of its publication, it was sponsored by Louisiana and Mississippi conferences of the Methodist Church.
