The Open Court was an American magazine "devoted to the science of religion, the religion of science, and the extension of the religious parliament idea".

Publication History

The Open Court began in 1887. The first actively copyright-renewed issue is December 1931 (v. 45 no. 907). We know of no actively copyright-renewed contributions. (More details) It ran until 1936.

Persistent Archives of Complete Issues

• 1887-1936: Southern Illinois University has the full run of the magazine, with the permission of the Open Court Publishing Company.
• 1897-1902, 1905-1906, 1908, 1911-1928: HathiTrust has volumes 11-14; parts of volumes 15, 16, 19-20, 22, and 25-27; and volumes 28-42 freely readable online. Access to volumes after 1898 may be restricted outside the United States. Some later volumes may be searchable but not readable online here.
