Publication History

American Heritage began in 1947 as a specialty magazine for members of the American Association for State and Local History. It relaunched for a general audience, restarting its issue numbering, in 1949. The first copyright-renewed issue is September 1949 (v. 1 no. 1). The first copyright-renewed contribution is from December 1, 1954. (More details) Publication was suspended in 2013, but then resumed in 2017. It is still published today.
