The American Legion

The American Legion is the current name of a magazine published by the American Legion, a US veterans' organization, since the early 20th century.

Publication History

The magazine began in 1919 as the American Legion Weekly. It then became the American Legion Monthly (and restarted its volume numbering) in 1926. Its name shifted to the American Legion Magazine in 1937 and to The American Legion in 1981. The first copyright-renewed issue is November 1944 (v. 37 no. 5). The first copyright-renewed contribution is from February 1929, © January 25, 1929. (More details) It is still published today.
