The American Review of Reviews

The American Review of Reviews was the most distinctive name of an American spinoff of the Review of Reviews, a general interest journal of the 19th and 20th century.

Publication History

The original Review of Reviews was published in London. An American editoin began the same year, and soon had content notably different from that of the London edition. It was renamed The American Monthly Review of Reviews in 1897, and The American Review of Reviews in 1907 (part-way through volume 36). In 1929, the American edition resumed the shorter Review of Reviews name. No issue copyright renewals were found for this serial. The first copyright-renewed contribution is from April 1931 (v. 83 no. 4). (More details) In 1932 it absorbed The World's Work, and published as Review of Reviews and World's Work until 1935, when it resumed the Review of Reviews name. It then ran until 1937, when it was absorbed by the Literary Digest.
