The US Army Corps of Engineers has submitted an Annual Report to Congress since the mid-19th century. Its exact title has varied over time.
The Corps of Engineers was formed as a permanent US government department in 1802. In 1848, the Report of the Chief Engineer to the Secretary of War was submitted to Congress, beginning an annual series of such reports. The report was titled Annual Report of the Chief of Engineers to the Secretary of War in 1876. It was titled Report of the Chief of Engineers, U.S. Army in 1907. It was titled Annual report of the Chief of Engineers U.S. Army in 1944. It was titled Annual Report of the Chief of Engineers, U.S. Army, on Civil Works Activities in 1954. It was titled Annual Report of the Chief of Engineers on Civil Works Activities in 1968, and Annual Report on Civil Works Activities of the Chief of Engineers for one year in 1979 before reverting to the previous title. (All of the title changes from 1876 to 1980 have distinctive ISSNs.) No issue or contribution copyright renewals were found for this serial.
