Arms and the Man was the name of a National Rifle Association-affiliated magazine, currently published as American Rifleman.
Arms and the Man was the successor to "Shooting and Fishing", which was bought and renamed by the Secretary of the National Rifle Association (NRA) in 1906. The new owner continued the volume and issue numbering of the earlier publication. The magazine was acquired outright by the NRA, and became its official organ, in 1916. In 1923, the magazine was renamed American Rifleman, the name under which it is still published today.
