The Smithsonian Institution Bureau of American Ethnology's Bulletin is a serial published by the Bureau of American Ethnology of the Smithsonian Institution.
Publication History
The first *Bulletin* was published in 1887, when the Bureau was called the Bureau of Ethnology. (It became the Bureau of American Ethnology in 1903.) The last Bulletin was published in 1971.
Persistent Archives of Complete Issues
- 1887-1894: The Smithsonian has numbers 1-8 and 10-24 of the Bureau of Ethnology bulletin. (The Bulletin title was given retrospectively.)
- 1889: We have a listing for number 9, "Bibliography of the Muskhogean Languages" by James Constantine Pilling. (The listing of Bulletins in Bulletin #24 designates this work as Bulletin #9.)
- 1903-1971: The Smithsonian has numbers 25-65, 68-134, 136-142, most volumes of number 143, numbers 144-179, and 181-200.
- 1918: The Internet Archive has number 66, "Recent Discoveries Attributed to Early Man in America" by Aleš Hrdlička.
- 1920: The Internet Archive has number 67, "Alsea Texts and Myths" by Leo J. Frachtenberg.
- 1946: The Biodiversity Heritage Library has number 143 volume 2, "The Andean Civilizations".
- 1961: The Internet Archive has number 180, "Symposium on Cherokee and Iroquois Culture".
