Business Statistics

Business Statistics was the name of supplements to the Survey of Current Business published by the United States Department of Commerce in the 20th century. They appeared in biennial and weekly editions.

Publication History

A biennial Statistical Supplement series to the Survey of Current Business was first published in the 1930s. The first edition titled Business Statistics was published for 1951. Editions were numbered as early as the 1953 edition (noted as the 9th volume in the series). A weekly statistical supplement to the Survey began publishing as Business Statistics in 1955 (again, retitling an earlier weekly statistical supplement). The weekly edition continued under that title until 1977, when it was renamed Weekly Business Statistics. The biennial edition continued until 1991. The Survey of Current Business continues today.

Persistent Archives of Complete Issues

• 1932: HathiTrust has the 1932 edition, which was retroactively deemed the first edition of the biennial series.
• 1936-1991: HathiTrust has the 2nd-27th biennial editions.
• 1955-1977: The St. Louis Fed has the full run of the weekly editions, along with earlier and later weekly supplements published under other titles.
• 1955-1960, 1963-1974: HathiTrust has most of the weekly editions.
• 1975-1977: HathiTrust also has the mid-1970s weekly editions, along with the initial issues of Weekly Business Statistics from 1977.
