Publication History

The regulations of the United States were first codified in 1938. Full publication of the regulations was made annual in the 1960s. Since the early 1970s, each annual edition has come out in quarterly parts, with each quarter covering a different subset of the federal regulations.

Persistent Archives of Complete Issues

• 1938-1969: The Library of Congress has older editions freely available to the public in page image form.
• 1996-present: The US Government Publishing Office has recent annual editions as searchable text, PDF, and XML.
