The Charlotte Democrat was the main name of a newspaper published in Charlotte, North Carolina, in the late 19th century.

Publication History

The Charlotte Democrat first began in 1870, succeding the Western Democrat. It ran as The Charlotte Democrat until 1881, when it merged with The Southern Home and was renamed Charlotte Home and Democrat. Its title reverted to The Charlotte Democrat in 1887. The newspaper ran until 1897, when it merged with the Mecklenburg Times to form The Times-Democrat.
