The Country Gentleman

The Country Gentleman was an American magazine on farming and rural life published in the 19th century and early 20th century. (There is a Wikipedia article about this serial.)

Publication History

The Country Gentleman began in 1853. In 1866, it merged with The Cultivator (which had itself absorbed the older Genesee Farmer) to become The Cultivator and Country Gentleman. It reverted to the shorter Country Gentleman title in 1898. The first actively copyright-renewed issue is February 1929 (v. 94 no. 2), © January 31, 1929. The first actively copyright-renewed contribution is from February 1929. (More details) It ran until 1955, when it was absorbed by Farm Journal.
