Diary and Consultation Book

The Diary and Consultation Book series contains records of Fort St. George, a former British fortress in what is now Chennai, India. It was published by the Madras government.

Publication History

The Diary and Consultation Book was recorded in 86 numbered manuscript volumes. The print volumes sometimes combine records from multiple manuscript volumes, and there is also one printed volume covering 1723 where the manuscript volume was lost (and not numbered). All together, they cover the years 1672 through 1756. Volumes 7 through 10 were first published in 1894 and 1895; the rest were published from 1910 to 1946. Volumes are listed below primarily under the years they cover, rather than the years they were published. We also indicate the main manuscript volumes each printed volume includes.
