Publication History

The first iteration of Essay and General Literature Index was initially published in 6 parts from 1931 through 1933. All 6 parts, which together covered 1900 through 1933, were then collected into a single volume in 1934. From then on, Essay and General Literature Index was published both in individual issues and occasional collected volumes. No issue or contribution copyright renewals were found for this serial. Periodical publication of the Index ceased in 2011, but the Index is now maintained as a subscription database. Listings below are labeled by years of coverage, which might be different from the years of publication.

• 1900-1933: The Internet Archive has the collected first volume, published in 1934.
