The Federal Budget in Brief

The Federal Budget in Brief was an annual concise summary of the proposed United States federal budget published by the White House, intended for the general public. The exact title varied somewhat over time.

Publication History

The first volume of The Federal Budget in Brief was published for fiscal year 1951 (July 1, 1950 through June 30, 1951). The last unified "budget in brief" that we know of for the entire federal government, which was by then titled The United States Budget in Brief, was for fiscal year 1990. It was superseded in later years by the more comprehensive Budget of the United States Government, which had been published for some years previously as well.
