Federal Reporter

Federal Reporter is an edited compilation of US federal court rulings and opinions, published by West Publishing, now part of Thomson Reuters. It is published in multiple editions, initially in individual issues or online files, and later in "permanent edition" bound volumes. (There is a Wikipedia article about this serial.)

Publication History

Federal Reporter began in 1880. A second series began in 1924, and a third in 1993. It is still published today. The first actively copyright-renewed issue is October-December 1928 (series 2, v. 28 permanent edition), © February 8, 1929. We know of no actively copyright-renewed contributions. (More details) The judicial rulings and opinions are in the public domain, but West claims copyright over the notes it adds.
