Indiana State Sentinel

Indiana State Sentinel was a newspaper published in Indianapolis in the 19th century. The title varied somewhat over time, and it sometimes published in multiple editions with different frequencies.

Publication History

Indiana State Sentinel began in 1841, succeeding the Indiana Democrat and Spirit of the Constitution. It started as a weekly, though there was also a Daily State Sentinel published beginning that year, and a multiple-times-a-week edition of the Indina Stat Sentinel was also published ftom 1845 to 1851. The weekly edition was titled Weekly Indiana State Sentinel from 1853 to 1861, but then reverted to Indiana State Sentinel in 1861 before being renamed the Indiana Weekly Herald in 1865. Indiana State Sentinel resumed under that title in 1868, and continued using it until 1895. It was succeeded by The State Sentinel, which ran until 1906.
