The Las Vegas Gazette began in 1872 (without the initial "The"). Initially the paper was bilingual, but a separate Spanish-language edition was published in the late 1870s. It was known as the Daily Gazette by 1879, the Las Vegas Morning Gazette from 1880 to 1881, the Las Vegas Daily Gazette from 1881 to 1886, and again as the Las Vegas Gazette in 1886. It ceased publication that year.
