Publication History

Proceedings of the Physical Society began in 1874 as the Proceedings of the Physical Society of London. The society's name shortened to simply the Physical Society in 1926. The Proceedings were published in two sections (A and B) from 1949 to 1957. Proceedings of the Physical Society ceased publication in 1967, and was thereafter replaced by the Journal of Physics, which continues to be published in multiple sections.

Persistent Archives of Complete Issues

• 1874-1928: HathiTrust has volumes 1-16, part of 17, and volumes 18-40 freely readable online. Access to volumes after 1898 may be restricted outside the United States. Some later volumes may be searchable but not readable online here.
• 1899-1901: HathiTrust also has all of volume 17. Access may be restricted outside the United States.
