Proceedings of the National Convention of the Socialist Labor Party is the official report of the national conventions of the Socialist Labor Party in the US. The conventions were normally held every few years, matching US election cycles, and reports were usually prepared within a year of the convention's meeting.
The Socialist Labor Party formed under the "Socialistic Labor Party" name in 1878, succeeding the Workingmen's Party of the United States that had been founded two years earlier. It counts the 1877 Workingmen's Party convention as its first national convention. (See also the Related Serials section for early convention proceedings.) By the 1889 convention, its name had shifted to the "Socialist Labor Party", and the party had split, at least for a time, into two factions. The party continues to exist today.
