Protokoll der Verhandlungen des Parteitages

Protokoll der Verhandlungen des Parteitages is a common title for the German-language reports of the plenary conventions of Germany's Social Democratic Party (Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands, or SPD). The title used in each report may vary somewhat from year to year.

Publication History

The SPD traces its roots back to predecessor parties formed in 1863 and 1869, which merged into one party, the Sozialistische Arbeiterpartei Deutschlands, in 1875. The party adopted its current name in 1890. Outlawed by Hitler in 1933, the party re-formed after World War II, and remains a major German political party today. At times its party conventions have been held annually; at other times there have been longer intervals between conventions.
