The Toiler was a Socialist and Communist newspaper that was published in the early 1920s. It was a predecessor to the national Communist newspaper, the Daily Worker.
The Toiler began publishing under that title in 1919, succeeding The Ohio Socialist and continuing its issue numbering. It eventually moved from Cleveland to New York. In 1922, it absorbed another publication, The Workers' Council, and soon thereafter was renamed The Worker (and eventually The Daily Worker).
