Publication History

The Wichita Eagle was founded in 1872 as a weekly newspaper called the Wichita City Eagle. The name shortened to Wichita Eagle in 1883. A daily edition began in 1884, initially called the Daily Eagle and then the Wichita Daily Eagle. The weekly edition was renamed the Wichita Weekly Eagle in 1888. No issue copyright renewals were found for this serial. The first copyright-renewed contribution is from July 9, 1961. (More details) The paper contues today as a daily.
