A Midsummer Night's Dream is a much-performed Shakespeare comedy featuring fairies, frustrated lovers, enchantments, and a play within the play performed ineptly by "rude mechanicals". Bibliographic notesA Midsummer Night's Dream was initially published in quarto in 1600, having been first performed a few years earlier. The second quarto is also dated 1600 on its title page, but was published in 1619. The play was also included in the First Folio of 1623, published seven years after Shakespeare's death. See also
